Driving. Anyone else?

This sounds so stupid, but I think my driving has been affected by my pregnancy. I don't know if its my depth perception or something else is off, but I've suddenly become shocking with my car.

Yesterday I rear ended someone in stop/start traffic (slow, no damage) and today i was parking outside my home, overshot the ledge and nearly ended up on the lowered pathway between my house and the road/ledge. Managed to back it up in the nick of time, but I've never done this before.

Just wondering if anyone else has become a danger to themselves and others in pregnancy? I still have 2.5 weeks of work left and I'm worried about my safety and the safety of others. I've never had an accident or any scrapes/close calls before my pregnancy and now i get 2 in as many days. I can't afford to take 2 trains, which is my only other option to get to work.

Am I going nuts here?

Not that extreme, but twice in one day I cut people off and I have noticed I sometimes drive to work and sorta blank out on part of the trip, next thing I know Im pulling into work parking lot without recalling the drive.

My depth perception is definitely off and I'm more hesitant/slower to make decisions. Nothing dangerous so far but driving feels like a lot more work than it ever used to. Our extended winter conditions haven't helped.

I just find Im "blanking out" more..like Ill get through a 4 way stop and wonder if I actually stopped because I can't remember.

Good so far - though I do drive around a lot less because I'm not as comfy switching gears and pushing the clutch in.

Although it sounds super dangerous, I'm glad I'm not the only who's experiencing a regression in their driving technique. I've had those blank moments too where I'm like, "wow how did I get here so fast?". Bit worrying.

I have a 13 mile commute to work, which is in stop/start traffic much of the way. I think I'm gonna stick to the slow lane with the old ladies for the next few weeks, mainly for the sake of those around me!

My driving has gotten terrible over the last couple of months, spacing out and just bad driving in general. DH comments on it all the time, when we go out together we usually take my car and I always drive but since it's gotten so bad I let him drive if we are together. Hopefully this is only pregnancy related and it will be back to normal after delivery.

I've definitely noticed that my depth perception is off, and I have a really hard time driving at night for some reason. I've had a number of close calls this pregnancy and so I find myself driving extra careful these days. I'm really hoping that it goes back to normal.

My biggest problem right now is that our old crappy diesel is manual and I can't get close enough to the clutch without the belly meeting the steering wheel. Damn my torso to extremities ratio! The steering wheel cover is one of those knobby kinds too talk about belly burn. Can't wait for the new car to get here.

I'm glad I'm not the only dangerous person on the road these days. My foot has started twitching, and the other day it twitched right off the brake while I was at a stoplight. Didn't hit anyone, and was able to get my left foot on the brake before my car rolled.

I also may have parked my car, but forgotten to put it in park more than once. Again, was able to stop it before it rolled into the back of the garage/the parking bumper.

I feel like I have fog head. I've gotten dizzy while driving a few times. I'm slow and paranoid and my DH says overly cautious. 4 weeks left of work for me but luckily the roads I travel aren't super trafficy...

My depth perception is also off. About 3 months ago I totally scratched a car while trying to park. I left a note but they never called, so I got lucky. But now I'm extra extra careful when it comes to parking and curbs.

I'd like to join this club. In the past two months, I have hit an iceberg while pulling into our driveway (okay, not literally but it was huge) and have spaced out multiple times while driving, even forgetting to make a turn to get home. Ridiculous.

This for me, too. I'm so done with my hour commute, too. I think a lot of my driving problems stem from just being tired.

I am glad i'm not the only one! I seem to go above or under the speed limit and can't stay at one pace. I did get in an accident about two months ago but it was not my fault. I hope I can be a good driver again after delivery.

I blame the minivan...I feel as though since starting to drive it, I've become as bad of a driver as every other minivan driver. Because women in minivans tend to drive slowly, all over their lane, oblivious of other people to the point of cutting them off, etc. Yeah. It's the minivan's fault.

(Btw...gross misrepresentation, please read as though it were in a sarcastic tone. This is more a commentary on how bad my driving has gotten than some over-arching theme about women being bad drivers, or whatever.)

This!!! I went a little too far on Monday and almost got ran off the road by a trucker after I gave him the finger. He was PISSED. But he wouldn't let me in at the merge so I went around him and very clearly told him to fu*k off. I probably shouldn't have challenged him though in his 18 wheeler.

My vision has been pretty shitty lately. It's harder to see street signs while driving, but luckily I haven't had any issues driving (yet).

MH and I work together, so I try to carpool as much as possible.

my eye doctor told me that your vision definitely is affected by pregnancy and not to do anything about changing prescriptions while pregnant

I am so glad I'm not alone! I got lost the other day coming home from work- I went north instead of south, then took a random exit and was sitting at the stoplight before I figured out I had no Idea where I was. I had to pull into a gas station and try to figure it out, luckily I was able to see a sign for the highway and figured out where I was. It took me the rest of the way home to figure out how I had gotten there though. I also hit a parked car while I was trying to park. Luckily no damage to their car, but my bumper shattered (one of those -70 zillion degree days). How is that even possible??

That's some crazy road rage... you cut someone UP???

I was driving a few weeks ago and decided to take a different way home due to traffic. I got to a "T" in the road and realized I had no idea where I was... it took me a few minutes to figure out where I was and how to get home.

Not even kidding. I get stabby when I'm behind the wheel.
