Update to OMG MIL that is her name.

So we were with MIL again, and she continued to call LO GG-which we previously told her we didnt want her called.
DH says, mom we dont want you calling her that, her name is Genevieve.

MIL responds with- oh honey, I am a grown adult, I can do what I want.

What in the crap?!!! I literally was speechless and said nothing. I am pretty sure my mouth hung open.

I told you last time to make up a rather annoying name for her because you don't like hers!

You and DH should tell her that y'all are grown ass adults too and can do what you want-like not let her visit if she cannot respect your wishes about your own child!

Okay. I'm going to play devils advocate here. I didn't see your other post and idk if this is a "bitch eating crackers" moment, but I honestly don't see the big deal. NNs happen. GG is not derogatory or ugly in anyway I can see. So of it were me, I'd just let it role off my back.

Right, she doesn't like it. She thinks its too long and 'Genevieve just doesn't roll off the tongue.' -MIL words. Havent talked with MIL, however I put a pic up on instagram. She wrote 'aww baby GiGi is getting so big'. So DH wrote back-i am now calling you Grandma Larry. She has said nothing so far.

But legit-i will call her a combo of Grandma Larry, Loopy, whats her name until she stops. @kimbo1216‌ we also call MY grandma GiGi, so that makes calling LO that even weirder. In my original post I had stated that we did pick a nickname, Vivi or vieve, if we tended toward that. So if she is going to call her a NN it should be one of those.

I understand your point that it shouldn't bother me. But I named her Genevieve. Its a beautiful name to me and just calling her GG takes that away. As LO gets older she is gonna do what she wants-even if I dont like it. But right now, this is my child, I named her and I want her called that name. I find it so disrespectful and rude and inconsiderate that she is doing this knowing that we hate it.

Sorta related, but also not- my MIL wants LO to call her Grandma KK which I hate, but whatever. It works out great because when she drives me crazy (which is often) I call her Grandma Cray Cray. Ahhh, good times.
