I found out a few weeks ago that I was pregnant, and my husband and I decided to continue with the pregnancy. I hadn't really had any symptoms to speak of, up until last Thursday. Last Thursday, while at work, I suddenly started throwing up and had such terrible stomach cramps I couldn't stand up. I tried to stand up twice, fell over the first time, and threw up again the second time. I was sweating and shaking and felt like I was going to pass out. After about half an hour on the floor, I stopped throwing up, but stomach cramps continued for about an hour afterward. Luckily, I had an appointment with my primary care doctor scheduled that afternoon, to get a referral for an OBGYN. When I got there, she expressed that the severity of the stomach pain that I was experiencing (and was still feeling slightly at the appt) wasn't totally normal, and sent me over for an ultrasound, and to get lab work done to test the HCG levels. The ultrasound was great! Perfect, I saw the baby and the heartbeat!
On Sunday, I went back in for my second round of bloodwork. On Sunday night, I had some light bleeding (more than spotting, but still pretty light). On Monday, my dr. called me to discuss the results of my blood test. She said that while the HCG levels were still rising, they were not anywhere near the rate she would like to see them rising at. She said that due to the range of symptoms, she's not really sure what's going on. It sounds like the HCG levels, along with the cramping and vomiting, and bleeding is causing some concern, but the perfect ultrasound is keeping her from being too worried. She said either everything is fine, or these are early signs of a miscarriage.
As she said, it's not good news, but it's not bad news either. I think I'm just feeling like I wish I had more information, one way or another. I'm feeling a bit at a standstill.
