My mom just told me that a good way to get DS to sleep in his crib is to lay him down with a blanket over his head until he stops crying and goes to sleep, the take it off. She said the carbon dioxide would help him go to sleep!
So my mother thinks I should make my son literally pass out, just to sleep in his crib?!? Guess who doesn't get to babysit anymore!
She seriously tries to be helpful but swears all four of her kids slept through the night at six weeks old and so she has no idea and thinks there is something wrong with her grandkids because they don't sleep well.

"You know that place between sleep and awake,
that place where you can still remember dreaming?

That's where I'll be waiting."

Speechless. Makes my Mom's reminiscence of putting whiskey on my gums when I was teething seem almost normal.
But is it terrible that my baby does that to herself? She likes to pull the blanket up over her head to fall asleep, then I go in and take it off once she's out. It scared the crap out of me the first time I found her that way. Now I just know to go in and de-smother her after a few minutes.
Monster Truck (It's a GIRL!) is due 19/02/2015!
That would truly be child endangerment.
DH said we should give it a try. He's been loosing major points all day
I told her she was crazy, and if that was the option I would rather be a human mattress forever.
LO's is the amber necklace. He hasn't had a traumatic time teething like DS did

Oh please, this is old hat to my MIL, she used to do that to my nephew, she claimed she was "making it dark" for him. She'd put a burp cloth (tri fold cloth diaper) over his face until he fell asleep.
She tried this with Josephine, I told her no. She tried it again with Parker, I said no. My babies never spend the night there w/o me. Until tonight, Josephine is staying there, but she's 2 and will not let MIL cover her face.
