How accurrate are dating ultrasounds?

I had a dating ultra sound today because I'm breastfeeding and can't use my LMP as a basis. I measured 8 weeks, 0 days, and saw a strong heartbeat (yay!). Anyway, I feel like the dating is off by a few days based on when DH and I DTD and when I first got a BFP. How accurate are they?

Here are my calculations: If I am 8 weeks today, I would have ovulated/conceived around Feb 12th. But I didn't get a BFP until March 1st, which would have been about 17 dpo. I was testing daily starting Feb. 26th (when I started spotting, which I assume was from implantation).

I guess it doesn't matter that much if the due date is off by 4 or 5 days, except that I'm always nervous they'll want to induce if I'm "overdue."

I charted both times and both times my dating u/s has been spot on with my chart. I have slightly irregular cycles too so I'm always amazed at how accurate the 1st tri ultrasounds are. BUT that's not to say everyone has an accurate u/s every time. If I were you I would just accept the 8 week dating. I don't think 5 days makes enough of a difference to be too concerned about.

Mine have always been spot on with the due date I had in my head beforehand.

Mine was to the day. I had my dating US at 5w 6d, and according to my chart, that's exactly where I thought I was.

I am sure you will be fine. Don't worry about being induced at this point.

Thanks. I won't worry about it and will just be happy we saw a heartbeat (and I'm 5 days closer to being out of the 1st tri than I thought).

Mine was 3 days off from my chart. My chart ended up being spot on.

There is a word to prevent that. Say it with me- NO.

Ha. Yes. I was actually scheduled for an induction on my due date last time because of blood pressure issues, but DH and I talked it over ad nauseum and decided it was the right thing. We were Bradley graduates and didn't take it lightly. Thankfully labor started about 3 hours after agreed to the induction so I avoided pitocin.

I was charting and the ultrasound put my EDD at 2 days later than ovulation.
