yet another solids question

How many times a day are your LOs getting solids?  Do they get those meals during/close to your own meals or are the times different?

Re: yet another solids question

  • 3 times a day now. She gets oatmeal and fruit for breakfast. DC gives her a Vegetable when the big kids are having their lunch. And she eats dinner with us. I usually give her whatever finger friendly food we have plus a puree. She eats about an oz of solids each time for now. It's been slowly increasing.

  • Twice a day and usually around the same time, lunch and dinner. She gets a veggie at lunch and fruit at dinner. We don't usually eat at the same time as LO just because that wouldn't be convenient at this point.

  • We started solids 3-4 weeks ago, and she only gets them once a day (around our dinner time during the week and mid-morning on the weekends).  She usually eats 1 cube but has been finishing that amount lately, so I might need to offer more.  We should probably start having DC give her solids at lunch time, but I'm a little hesitant - we load the spoon but then let her take the spoon, feed herself, and indicate when she's done.  It can take a while for her to finish, and I don't want her to be rushed or encouraged to eat more than she wants.

Yeah, LO goes down for the night before we have dinner, we rush through our breakfast in the morning on weekdays so DH can get to work on time and I can get a shower before he leaves, and half the time our lunch time is LO's nap time.  I've been transitioning him from one meal to two each day and trying to figure out a rough meal schedule for him.  So far, he's been getting a meal mid-morning and one mid-afternoon.  I was thinking we would try to have family meals on weekends until his nap/sleep schedule changes.

  • He eats 2x a day. Occasionally he'll eat dinner with us. Normally its if both of us are home or if we go out to eat, other than that, he eats a later breakfast (10) and dinner (5-6).

We're going to start doing 3x a day soon. Do breakfast around 9, lunch around 1, and dinner around 5 or 6.

  • Depends on the day, but she usually eats when we eat. So usually 3 times a day.

I have only ever offered solids when we sit down to eat together.

  • Twice a day. We eat breakfast together. Depending on our day he then gets either lunch or dinner. I feed him before I eat to keep him happy and he plays while we eat.

We try for 3x a day but it the third time doesn't always happen. We are consistent with twice a day. DS always gets breakfast and then lunch and/or dinner depending on what we have going on that day.
We usually feed him right before we eat if it is a puree and if doing BLW he eats at the same time as us.

    Exactly this.
  • 3x a day. Although, I have a follow up question for those feeding dinner... is there such a thing as feeding too late? I think this is mostly just your opinion, but.. I feel bad because by the time we get home and settled and food made, he doesn't eat until like 7 or 730.. and then he has his bottle right afterwards. But.. there's literally no reason (besides that I have it in my head not to eat too late) why it is a problem for LO.. except for every once in a while he's a little too cranky for BLW.. but then I just call it a day and give him his nighttime bottle.

Consistently she gets a dinner feeding. She's with dh for breakfast and lunch and he's been having a lot of difficulty getting her to eat.

3 times a day. 30-60 minutes after nursing eats a fruit or an egg for breakfast. Around 12:30-1 he eats a meat/veggie pouch and he eats dinner between 5 and 6. Sometimes it is a little of what we are having or it is another pouch.
  • She eats twice a day. Lunch at daycare and I feed her dinner between 4-5. She eats a half of a pouch of food and its usually a mix of fruits and veggies. We also do some finger foods at dinner but she mostly plays with them.
  • 2-3 times a day. Normally 3. But sometimes, like last night, dinner was later than normal and she fell asleep earlier than normal. But we always eat together, she eats the same foods we do so I wouldn't dare make her eat all alone!
