Appendicitis question

Hi all,

I'm new here. I'm 6 weeks, 3 days pregnant. At 5w4d I had to have an open appendectomy. Because of my pregnancy, they did a spinal (so I was awake), but of course had to use antibiotics and morphine afterwards. All was safe, but still concerned about the timing of the whole ordeal, and of course the major stress, not to mention the infection of the inflamed appendix.  My OB confirmed the pregnancy, but told me that there is no way of knowing if anything happened, only that this was definitely an "insult" that my body went through. Was also told that she didn't know how the baby would turn out, since the office doesn't follow the babies afterwards. Really??

Has anyone gone through a similar ordeal this early in pregnancy, or possibly known anyone who has? I'm curious how the babies did in the end, and if they had any developmental issues later on. Just feel horrible about the whole thing :( Thanks all, for your advice. It's very appreciated.

    My mom has her appendix removed when she was 18 weeks pregnant with me. I don't know if that's it's much help but everything turned out fine. I'm the proof! ;)
