same with me, started yesterday... my doctor said for an upper respiratory infection Sudafed (only the one behind the pharmacy counter) and Robitussin DM are ok, and Tylenol if I get a fever. Lots of fluids also.
Try to take elderberry syrup (sambucol). I make my own but you should be able to find it at whole foods, gnc, coops or even cvs/ rite aid. You will be amazed at how quickly you feel better! Pretty awesome stuff
One of the best things you can do is get extra rest. Cold meds may relieve some symptoms, but that wont actually make you better quicker. Think of it this way, you can take cold pills and feel better for four hours, or you could take a nap for a few hours. You won't notice how awful you feel during that time, plus you'll be helping your body fight off whatever's got it's claws in you. I hope you get too feel better soon!
Lots of rest, water and make sure you hare eating lots of nutrient rich foods.
If you think you need medication to get some sleep or get through work give your OB (or if you don't have one yet your family doctor) a call even if you haven't actually seen them yet they can normally give you a suggestion. If none of that is possible a trusted pharmacist can help.
I had an OB would told me anything medication wise was terrible (he was even anti tylenol and tums) and my current one told me for colds I can take Robotussin or Sudaphed (both regular not DM or anything) but not until after 12 weeks and to be careful with herbal supplements.
