Lead time for birthday invites?

What do you think is an acceptable lead time for birthday invites?

Everyone is local. I have been sitting on the invites for like a week and the party is May 3.

Last year I sent them too late and a bunch of people had plans, so I want to send them on the early side, but not so early that people will forget...

@MabelShesABiotch- You are right! Twas I! I say 1 month is fine. I send mine out about 6 weeks in advance but one month should be just fine...

We're doing a month because I feel like there are a million parties in April/May/June in our "circle."

I try for at least a month...especially in spring/summer or around the holidays, but I think 3 weeks is reasonable.
