Worried about dental work I just had...

Yesterday, I had a scheduled appointment to have a cavity filled. All I had heard was that dental work was good to take care of, but I didn't see anything harmful in my reading other than no x-rays. I am 6 weeks pregnant which I mentioned to the dentist, but he took it as I was "trying to get pregnant and just thought I might be." Anyways, after injecting me with the local anesthetic, he found out I was actually pregnant, and said we would go on with the fillings but he typically waits until the 2nd trimester to do that. I am now so upset I what I might have done to my baby due to the lidocaine with epinephrine that he used. I have found mixed answers online, but I would love to not have to worry about this mistake all throughout my pregnancy. Has this happened to anyone else, and did your baby turn out okay? I am just disappointed in myself for not having been more thorough with all of this but this is my first experience pregnant and everything is so new. Please let me know if you have any words wisdom or similar stories.

  • I am a dental hygienist the lidocaine and epi are not going to hurt your baby, even digital X-rays are safe. Like the previous post said they wait so you are more comfortable. Just stay away from nitrous oxide!

  • I had some dental work done the day I found out I was pregnant. I called my OB that morning to ask what was safe and was told to not take any Valium, but the numbing agents used were safe. I let the dentist know before hand as well and she confirmed what my OB said.
