Where did you first meet your SO / DH? & How long till you gave him a chance?

I met my SO at Marshall's. He is LP and I was a cashier. The first time I saw him, I had to get to know him better. It took us about 4 or 5 months to actually talk to each other

He got my number from my best friend and we talked ever since. Married almost 2 years ago. May is our anniversary:) we were only actually together for a year before then

My husband and I met online. We had our first date at my favorite Chinese/Japanese/Thai restaurant and went for drinks afterwards.

I pretty much liked him from the start, he seemed like a nice guy, shy and sweet. It took me a few dates to be convinced I was physically into him, but here we are 9 years later, married for 3.5 and execting our first baby :-)

Turned out he was my good friends next door neighbor. I went over to her house and made sure she invited him. The rest is history! 11 years later we've been married 5 years now and are expecting our first!

DH and I met at a ballroom dance club. We had a bunch of friends in common and had actually grown up in the same area. But I didn't know him because he's 6 years older than me. It was like he was friends with my friend's older siblings but in the dance community in that city, everyone knows everyone. I was 19, had just finished my first year of college and had just gotten back home to work for the summer. I really didn't want a boyfriend because I would be heading back to school in 4 months so I wasn't really looking to date much. But he would invite me when a bunch of our mutual friends were doing things and a couple weeks later it turned into officially dating. We did the long distance thing when I went back to school. But then I had a ring on my finger and a reason to do the long distance thing. I wouldn't do long distance for just any boyfriend, fiance though? Sure. It actually turned out to be good practice for when DH deployed right after we got married. (Yes, we got engaged and married really quickly, but it's worked out well for us. We've been married for 5 years now and I wouldn't have it any other way.)

Oh jeez. Nine years ago, I was 16, we were both at a mutual friend's graduation (after) party. I was the drunk crying girl (one of many that night) freaking out about my exboyfriend who had just cheated on me. One of our friends was comforting me and said he wanted to introduce me to someone. He introduced me to SO who ended up consoling me the rest of the night. We "dated" for a whole two weeks after that before he briefly moved out of state. But we were still friends and saw each other at random parties after he moved back. We became super close the last 4-5 years, and we decided to give things a shot a year and a half ago.

DH I met in college. He went to HS with the guy I was dating when I met him. It took us just over a year to both be single and interested at the same time. We were great friends before we started dating though, and we clicked immediately. Our friends called us the inevitable couple. When we announced our engagement, despite only being together for about 2 years, everyone was just like "Oh, so you two finally get that you're perfect, about time." This includes our parents who I think just decided we were going to get married shortly after we started meeting each other's families.

DH and I met on line (match). I actually deleted his first message to me. Combo of thinking wasn't ready yet and he looked very young.

SIL convinced me to respond after he messaged a 2nd time. Communicated via email a bit then had out first date. Spent the evening just talking. And then whole next day together. I still was "dating" from match, but a week later--- he was it!

You could say I waited around....we dated for 8.5 years! We went through so much together--happy and sad. Never lived together. He finally popped the question in March 2011. We were married less than 3 months later! We were both 39 and figured we were too old and dated too long for a prolonged engagement.

DS arrived a year and a half later!

Match.com at age 32. I talked to him on the phone and we talked for HOURS which is highly unusual for me. He was hilarious and had a great "phone voice," like seriously he could be on the radio. I met him a few days later and we've been together ever since. So I guess I gave him a chance from before we even met!

We didn't date as long as you did, but we also never lived together (both owned houses when we met, too complicated!), and had a 90 day engagement... and a pretty fancy 150 person wedding, which I nearly got fired while pulling off. Haahahah. And DS also arrived about a year and a half later -- I love that we never lived together until after we were married! It made it really special.

DH and I met at work. He was a developer on one of my accounts, and I thought he was cute, but we were both dating other people. And I had a strict "no dating co-workers" rule. About 7 months after he started, we were both single, but I had the intention of setting him up with a close friend of mine. We realized quickly there was a spark between us, my friend bowed out, and the rest is history. Ten months after that first date, we were engaged, Ten months after that, married, and we're celebrating our first anniversary in May!

DH's best friend in high school and my best friend met in an AOL chat room (lol!!) and wanted to meet. So a group of us all went out, we were all 15-16 years old. He messaged me on AIM a couple days later, asked me out on a date a few days after that, and 11.5 years later, here we are. :-)

Well, we met on an army chat room. I work for the Army and H was active duty at the time. We were both bored at work. Found out we were on the same post, and started pming. I gave him my number. He asked me out to dinner while talking that night. He took me to a diner the next night, and we ended up talking in the Walmart parking lot for 2 hours. I texted my friend on my way home I thought we would be just friends. Haha...

I met DH on match. I think he messaged me first and I took my sweet time getting back to him. Then, when I did, it was a bit more honest about my frustrations with dating than I should have been. Thankfully, he looked past all that and we met up for dinner. We were dating for a few months when we found out about DD, moved in together when I was 6 months pregnant, got married when she was 9 months old, and our first wedding anniversary is two weeks before my due date... Yeah, we had an accelerated timeline (funny how an unexpected LO will do that). But we're 32 (33 on Sunday) and 42, so it's not exactly like we're crazy youngsters.

HS sweethearts here! We met our senior year (DH was in private school until then). After passing each other in the halls for months we had one class together-psychology- that started second semester in January. I sat in front of him. We started talking and by March he had asked me out. Now, 7 years later, we are still head-over-heels for each other. A lot of ups and downs, long distance through college, but we never gave up because we knew what we had was wonderful. Married in July after 6.5 years of dating, now look where we are!

@JSS1002‌ that's funny. We had a pretty big wedding too and there were moments I thought I was insane planning a wedding for the beginning of June at busy end of school year time. I honestly don't know how I pulled it off--- on either end--school or wedding! We had 150 people too--- big church wedding and awesome reception (as only a long islander can do! Lol !! I find NE weddings so different than others I have attended in other parts of the country!

DH and I met when I was in college. We were retreatants and then staffers at a retreat that my Catholic Student Center put on. We were also part of the same group of friends, and we started hanging out more and more and got to know each other better. He actually went to a concert with me and my family for my birthday, and my parents got to meet him before we even thought of dating. I was dating someone else at the time, and he (my ex and I) and I split up the summer of 2008.

DH and I were put together as staff heads for a retreat that October, and got to know each other a lot better. I started to develop a thing for him with all the time we were spending together. Shortly after the retreat ended, we started dating, and we made it "official" right before Halloween that year. We got engaged in December 2011, and married in August 2012.

Oh yeah, that's a whole different ball o' wax than a MN wedding... I just didn't want to be engaged for a whole year, and I always wanted to get married outdoors in October, so when he proposed in July, I was on a mission. Moral of the story: never underestimate my ability to get shit done when properly motivated. ;-)

DH and I met online (match.com). We started emailing and he was heading home to GA for his sister's engagement party. We started talking about GA and where he was from, turns out he grew up and his mom still lives in the small town in south GA where my maternal grandmother was born and raised. My mom was also born in this town, before relocating to MA where my grandfather's family was from. My mom has lived in MA since age 6 and I was born and raised in MA. DH is in the Coast Guard and was stationed in MA when we met. I never thought I would meet or marry a guy from the town that my grandmother and mom were born in. We have been married almost two years and are expecting our first!

I met DH when I was 18 and he was 20. It was my first day at my new job at a golf course. I was the beverage cart girl and he was bag drop. I actually had a boyfriend at the time, so the instant I saw him, in my head I said "Ut oh he's going to be trouble." We were friends at first, flirted etc. Until I broke it off with my bf bc he was a cheating lying bastard ! Then DH and I started dating and we moved into a place with coworkers together 3 months later. 12 years later he is still trouble, lol. We didn't get married until 2010 with a long engagement due to getting pregnant with DS1 after getting engaged and buying a house. Been together since 2002.

Oh hell, I'll give the tl;dr version:

Met at a campground at age 15 (we will both be 34 this year), I had just broken up with a guy the day prior. DH didn't want anything to do with me at first (due to the friend I was with). Changed his mind quickly though.

Dated on and off through HS, had a nasty break up, thought it was done forever.

Started talking again in college, he "stole" my virginity at 18 (on my birthday).

Moved in together at 24, got engaged in 2006, wedding planned for Oct '08, found out about DD in April of '08 (after the dress had already been ordered/deposits been made/date been set)

Married at almost 8 months pregnant to the man who I had written about in my 15 year old's journal as someone who "I see a lot of things happening between us."

Damn it's been forever with this guy.

I met my DH first year of college. He was a math tutor and the room he tutored in had a window looking into the class I was in. I so badly wanted to talk with him so I signed up for tutoring lessons that I did not need just to talk with him. Took him 3 ish months to ask me out but here we are over 6 years later just celebrated our 5th wedding anniversary. This will be our rainbow baby!

DH and I met in Sunday School at church when we were in the 8th grade. He was the guy that wouldn't leave me alone all through high school - kept asking me out and I kept turning him down because I was dating someone else. I finally came to my senses my freshman year of college - two weeks before he was moving out of state for school.

I broke up with my high school sweetheart on a Wednesday night, kissed DH for the first time on Thursday night, and DH and I went on our first date that Sunday night. We've been together since Oct. 2006 (seven years ago) and have been married for just over three years (Dec. 2010). I'm so glad that I finally gave him a chance!

She was so obnoxious about it, but it worked. We dated long distance for 5 months before getting engaged. We planned a wedding for 7 months later, but he was deploying and deployment got moved up. So instead we got married 3 months later, during my spring break. We planned the 35 guest wedding in 8 days. Almost two years later, we're expecting baby #1

I met my DH around 13 years ago when we were 15 but only ran into each other every 6 months or more (our common friend lived out of town) and we just weren't interested in each other enough to even get in contact as friends. Then 8 years ago at some hole in the wall concert we just clicked and talked the whole night. He started bugging me the next day for a date but I heard he was a player and I was just out of a 3 year relationship so I figured we'd go out have some fun no big deal. Well were still having fun.
