  • Week 21! A lot has happened this past week. I went for my echo and I was very disappointed with the cardiologist that reviewed the ultrasound. He came in for about a minute, looked everything over and said, "okay looks good" and left. I hope to discuss it further with my OB but hey, I'm happy that everything looked good.

Our a/s also looked good but I struggled a lot during it. I began to feel really sick from being on my back so I had to keep switching from side to side, I felt like a pain in the butt but I had to do it.

My furbaby is much better! Thanks so much for asking! DH and I still have to force pills down her throat but the results are worth it!

I am in the middle of officially transferring OBs now that there is a break in testing. I am scared/nervous but I know it'll be worth it when my babies are born to have access to a level 3 NICU.

DH and I had our multiples class at the hospital this past weekend and we learned a lot. However, taking a tour of the NICU was very difficult and I lost it. There were a set of twins in there and their parents told us their story and I could not hold back tears. I pray that we are never in their shoes but I envy how positive they are.

I hope everyone had a good week!!!

  • We are at week 26!! We finally finished painting the nursery last weekend. We tried to put a vinyl decal but it refused to stick to the wall so we ended up tracing it and using it as a stencil and painting the giant tree that covers one whole wall.

Other than that we have an appointment this Friday and they are doing the glucoses screening.

@JennyS86 sending T & P's for you and your family.

16 weeks 1 day here- went for my bloodwork this morning and the little snot that drew it tied the tourniquet WAY too tight and didn't wait for the alcohol to dry so it hurt like hell :( No idea when we get results back (thank you so much for remembering @ Allison7!), I'm hoping it will be when we go in for the second scan at 18 weeks. Still haven't announced on FB....too many people to call who I don't want to find out that way, so maybe this weekend?! I know, I keep saying that....
Other than that I feel good, getting to the point where regular pants are just not an option and all I want are maternity everything- leggings, yoga pants, jeans, you name it. I did get some SUPER comfy linen maternity pants from Old Navy that I would recommend to everyone- they're such a relief!

ETA: QOTW- I really, really love ice cream. While on our honeymoon in Italy we ate gelato every day around 3 and it was heaven. Favorite flavor is probably Blue Bell Homemade Vanilla bean, because I can dress it up or eat it plain and still inhale a pint at a time.

  • Hi All! I am feeling much better this week, but DH is on his way home and he picked up the flu...so now I have to pray I don't get it too!! Still, I am just so happy that I was healthy enough to go on our trip to San Francisco - it was amazing! The best part was the weather. The sun felt so good!

I had a regular OB check-up yesterday. All is well there. HB was in the 150s and super easy to find. The only concern was weight since I have only gained about 1.5lbs. I probably needed to lose about 15lbs before I got pregnant (thank you clomid for making my hormones crazy), so she said it was fine for now. If I don't gain 5-6lbs. in the next month, then they are going to monitor my calorie intake, but she said it seems like pregnancy just kicked my metabolism into high gear and some women just don't gain that much. Of all of the issues out there, this is one I will gladly deal with! My a/s is on Saturday and I am so excited!! We haven't seen LO since January 13th!!

QOTW: Sorry I forgot to change this until after I threw the post up!! My favorite flavor is coffee...but since that has caffeine in it, right now I happily indulge in peanut butter fudge, mint oreo cookie, or coconut chocolate chip.

  • @JennyS86, sending you all kinds of good thoughts and prayers for your girls. @Allison7, as always thanks for running such an awesome checkin!

I am 19w3d and anxiously awaiting our anatomy scan on the 31st! I'm starting to have a feeling that there are either two girls or two boys in there judging but their attempts to punch the other out at our last ultrasound but we will find out soon enough. :) I'm otherwise feeling pretty good, although completely exhausted, and my belly seems to grow by the day! The weeks are going by so fast that I'm sure the twins will be here before we know it!

QOTW: Favorite ice cream is a tie between 3 flavors; salted caramel gelato, butter becan or the green mint chocolate chip (Note, it must be the green version!).

    @ JennyS86.. T&P for your twins!
@ Allison7.. Gaining weight has never been an issue for me and I am actually worried in opposite direction. I lost almost 40 pounds before starting my IVF and am gaining so fast. T&P that you will gain the appropriate weight and all works out well.

QOTW: Cookies and cream. A way to have ice cream and cookies at the same time!

Will probably be pretty boring around here until our 24wk appt--glucose screen due that day. Ick! My girls are in full swing for baby shower planning...I feel so blessed by them! Its hard to be in this moment, that this is all for us since its been such a long time coming!

QOTW: Real vanilla ice cream with flecks of vanilla bean. Good stuff! Although carrot has shown a definite liking for cookie dough blizzards lately!

  • @Allison7, thank you for the reassurance!  I am trying not to stress too much about the weight gain, because stress = more eating, which is pretty counter-productive...sigh.

17 weeks tomorrow!  Nothing much new and exciting.  OB's office just called to say my 2nd tri screening and Pap smear all came back negative, so yay for that.

MIL rant:  Jewish tradition is not to reveal the name of a baby until the baby is "officially" named 8 days after birth.  We're following this tradition, which we've explained to MIL.  It's also traditional (at least for those of Ashkenazi/Eastern European descent, as we both are) to name for someone who has died, rather than someone living.  DH's father died 10 years ago, before we ever met, and we have known all along that Munchkin's middle name will be after her grandfather.  So last night at dinner, MIL is asking us about names, we remind her that we won't share the name until the official naming.  She asks if we have a book of names, we say yes, and then she starts throwing out about a dozen names in memory of her late husband.  And we're like, hi, we just said that we won't tell you the name and that we have a book, so please stop talking.  Sigh.  I know she means well, but she just doesn't. get. it.

QOTW: Chocolate!  And if I want to shake things up, chocolate peanut butter.

  • I can't believe this is my last 2nd tri check-in!  27 weeks tomorrow!!

@Allison7 - you have done a phenomenal job with all these check-ins, thank you so much!!

@JennyS86 - I am thinking of you, your sweet baby girls, and your family.  Saying lots of prayers for strong, growing, healthy babies!!

This has been quite a week for us.  At our regular appointment and u/s last Friday, the doctor saw bright bowels on baby girl's u/s (this in addition to the EFI left ventricle they say 2 months ago at our anatomy scan).  So, needless to say, we're worried, and I am scared what this could mean for our baby girl (since I made the mistake of googling it, and apparently it can mean any number of things, from Down syndrome or cystic fibrosis, to intestinal issues, to nothing at all.  I had cystic fibrosis screening as part of our IVF cycle, and it came back negative, but DH didn't et screened (since it doesn't run in either of our families).  All my bloodwork along the way has come back with low odds for Down syndrome, so we really just don't know what to think at this point.  The doctor referred us to get a level 2 u/s (basically another full anatomy scan) at the hospital, as a second opinion, so see if they're seeing the same things my regular OB's office has seen.  So, we have that u/s appt. scheduled for this Friday (would have gone in sooner, but I don't want to do it alone and DH is out of town until Thursday night).  We're really hoping it turns out to be nothing.  I'll be back at my OB's office next week for my glucose screening test, and will be meeting with one of the doctors then to compare all the u/s results.  The babies have both been doing so well up to this point, it's just hard to think that something could be wrong and one of them could have health or developmental issues.

  • 24w2d -- I passed V-Day!  The heartburn went away, which makes me happy!  I actually feel quite good, though I am hungry all.the.time and I'm worried I'm gaining too much.  I have an OB appointment tomorrow so I guess I'll find out!

Other news...we booked childbirth class for May 10th and I am looking into infant CPR and bfing classes.  We just ordered light fixtures for the nursery, once they arrive we can have electricians in to do some rewiring and then we have to paint the woodwork and put up wallpaper.  After that, we can start setting things up!  I think my wife is starting to get anxious about how much time we have, but July still feels far away to me.

QOTW: An indie ice cream shop near me makes something called B3 -- brown sugar, brown butter, and brownie.  It's amazing.

  • Hi ladies!  Technically I hit 3rd tri yesterday at 26w6d but I'm making this my official last 2nd tri check-in at 27w today (though, my m/w said my EDD is 6/23 now so if we go by that I'm 27w1d...big difference, I know lol)... but seriously holy moly!  I can't believe how quick this pregnancy has flown.  I can't wait to meet LO!!  Our crib and rocker are being delivered this Saturday!!  It'll be nice to finally start seeing the nursery start to come together. Last week we had new doors installed on our entire second floor (the old ones were ugly flat wood panels barf!) and chair rail in the baby's room.  We just need to paint the doors and touch up the molding and wall paint around the molding, and that should be done.  Still waiting on our dresser to come in, and I still haven't found a bookcase that I like - this might be something I continue to search for even after LO is here because I want something so particular...we'll see!

DH and I just got back to Jersey from FL today.  I figured it would be a temperature shock, but FL was downright cold yesterday - figures!  Either way, it was nice to sit at the pool for a couple days and not have to think about work.  But now back to the grind tomorrow....but on the bright side I only have about 11 weeks to go at a MAX unless my m/w writes me out earlier *FX* hehe

As far as my actual pregnancy, still no real complaints.  I had some swelling in my ankles and hands while down in FL, but I think it had a lot to do with going from 30s to 80s because it's all back to normal now.  Hopefully it stays this way.  I also have some minor mid-back pain when I sit for too long in seats without good lumbar support.  A pillow behind my back seems to do the trick.  Though, I will say that sleeping without my body pillow was quite difficult.  I can't wait to cuddle with it again tonight! haha  My anemia seems to not be as bad, but I won't know for sure until April 5th when they actually do bloodwork.  I guess I'll see if the iron supps are helping when I walk from my car into work tomorrow, since that's when the shortness of breathe seems to be the worst for me.  Otherwise, we signed up for a few classes...ABC's of going home with baby and a breastfeeding course.  We're thinking about a birth class, too, but I've heard mixed reviews about doing this, so I'm still on the fence.  I know I need to hurry up and make a decision, but money has been tight lately so we don't want it to be a waste of money.

Has anyone bought a baby book yet?  I mean like a birth stats, first this first that, etc. kind of book?  I already have a few keepsakes like our u/s pics and our shower invites that I want to put into this book before I lose or accidentally ruin them.   If you do have one, do you have a link you can share??

QOTW: My instinctual answer to this is always chocolate chip mint!  But there's a homemade ice cream place near where my parents live that I grew up on.  They have lots of hard ice cream, but even better they have TONS of soft serve flavors, so much better than just choco and vanilla.  They do an orange/vanilla twist and I always used to get that on a cone with rainbow sprinkles.  MmMmmmmMMM!!  Now I want it to warm up so we have an excuse to take a drive and get some!

I decided to do the MSAFP blood test yesterday which is just a screening.  If anything comes back abnormal I will do further testing (FX everything is just fine though).  OB office said they should be back Friday.  Also did a 1 hour glucose yesterday due to my history of blood sugar issues.  That was supposed to be back today but I didn't hear and I know they operate on a no news is good news policy but I'm not going with that just yet since they may of not gotten the results back today,

I signed us up for almost every possible baby class at our hospital... daddy boot camp, mommy care basics, baby care basics, childbirth prep, breastfeeding, cpr and car seat safety... all for the low low price of $15!  I figured I can't have too much info, right!?

Also this weekend we bought a crib!  The deal at Target was way to good to pass up... $250 crib on sale for $185 plus a $20 off coupon.  Got the dresser yesterday as it was also on sale and I had a 2nd coupon.  Changing table is in the mail as it's an online only kind of thing.  I never planned on having furniture this early but with the sale, coupons and Target Red Card discount I think we saved almost $200 total.

We are also looking at 3 day cares this week.  One of them my good friend is bringing her infant son there starting tomorrow and her opening is the week before I need it (pending baby comes on his/her due date) so I have a real good feeling about it!

QOTW: Probably vanilla.  You can never go wrong with vanilla.  I did try that new Ben and Jerry's PB Fudge Core though and that was amazing!

Edit: Had to and one more thing!  :)

  • @JennyS86 ~ Thinking of you and wishing the best for your baby girls, you, and your family.
Thank you for doing such a great job at the check-ins @Allison7!
@liz4paws ~ I love the nursery! It looks beautiful!
@sarah_beth2005 ~ I hope your u/s on Friday goes well and that it turns out to be nothing.

Hi ladies! I am 27 weeks and moving on to 3rd tri next week! I have been getting more stressed out recently since baby's due date is now only 3 months away and while I'm so excited I feel like I have so much left to do to get ready for her.

QOTW: I love ice cream so it's hard to pick a favorite! A really good one I've had was cherry vanilla at Cold Stone Creamery - but it must have been a limited time flavor because they don't have it anymore. It was so delicious it didn't even need any toppings on it!

We had our anatomy scan last Thursday and the dr said everything looked good. I go back for a fetal echo in 2 weeks for a closer look at her heart. I'm still feeling pretty good, and love to feel Gracie's little kicks and movements :-)

QOTD: I like favors that have something added, like strawberry cheesecake and peanut butter chocolate.

8/2011: Diagnosed with ovarian cancer, ovaries and tubes removed

    12/2011: Finished chemo

  • Hi girls! I'll be 27 weeks tomorrow and still feeling generally ok! Swelling, RLP, shortness of breath, reflux and insomnia are the top complaints, but luckily nothing bad or scary is going on so I'll take it.

I am tired though. Mornings are ok, but afternoons are rough, evenings can be miserable and weekends I just spend trying to recover. My next appt is Monday and I'm hoping to go on a reduced schedule.

    Hope everyone is doing well!

  • Hi everyone!  I'm 23w4d today . . . just 3 days from V-day.  (Yay!)  I've gotten noticeably bigger in the last couple of weeks; people offer me seats in the subway now.  ;-)  Baby is very active -- just a few minutes ago I was sharing a few kicks with DH.  I have my glucose screening test on Friday at 24w . . . hoping I'm in the clear.

My favorite ice cream flavor is chocolate chip cookie dough.  'Cause I can't resist those soft chewy cookie dough chunks!
  • Hey ladies, @JennyS86‌ t&p sending your way ...

17 weeks tomorrow! Not much new since last week. Back pain still lingering, and im trying to make healthier choices as I get hungrier as the days pass but it's hard! I just go for the quickest thing to make n something that dh will eat too so that im not making 2 meals all the time. Will work on that.

Qotw: cookies and cream, and cherry chocolate chip!

  • @jennys86 sending lots of thoughts and prayers your way.

19w3d today. We have had a busy weekend/week. Our genderal reveal went amazing and we were so surprised to find out were having a boy! We were told at 13.5 wks by our RE it was a girl so we were so sure. Beyond excited!! I know some people are against gender reveals but it sure was so fun and all of our fam and close friends had a blast! Other than that just enjoying spring break and feeling good. Still waiting to feel this little boy move!! Our a/s was great and lil guy was looking perfect. My placenta is still a little low so hoping it moves up but all else good.

Qotw: not a huge ice cream person. I prefer to frozen yogurt places where you can mix them up and make sundaes...yum!!

  • Hey Ladies!! Love hearing all your updates!

@JennyS86-tons of t&p's heading your way! Hope those baby girls are thriving!
@liz4paws-love the nursery! We are also doing light gray walls, white furniture, and then pink/gray chevron & blue/gray chevron bedding with some chevron accents in the room. I like your style! ;)
@Allison7-So I really didn't want to spend too much on the diaper bag, but I caved and got the Marc Jacobs one. It is pretty big, which I think will be perfect for twins. And, Bloomies was having a Loyalist discount, plus I had a gift card, so I felt a lot less guilty about the purchase!

AFM: I am 23w5d. Each and every day of keeping these babies in here seems like such a gift! Everyone keeps telling me I look tiny, especially for twins, but I feel enormous!! Belly is growing and babies are kicking up a storm, so I'm hopeful all is well in there! It seems like forever since I've had a check-up, so I'm counting down to my next OB appt. Other than that, I'm just trying to get things crossed off the never ending "To Do" list!

QOTW: I can't even remember the last time I ate actual ice cream, but I LOVE frozen yogurt, especially in the summer. I'm a peanut butter/ chocolate swirl with rainbow sprinkles kind of gal.

  • @JennyS86 T&PS for you and your family!

I was having a lot of pressure/BH contractions this past weekend so my OB had me come in on Monday to check my cervix. Thank goodness everything looked great. I'm 22 1/2 weeks and they were a bit concerned because DD came early. I have my regularly scheduled/follow up checkup next Thursday.

Besides that we decided on furniture for the nursery and are planning to order it this weekend hopefully. They said it may take up to 12 weeks to come in and I'm a little panicked to get it ordered. We also ordered DDs full size matress for her big girl room. :) She turned three last week and I can't believe how the time has flown by.

@Allison7 My favorite ice cream is coffee too but I found out that my favorite local place (that makes the best coffee ice cream) has stopped making it to make room for new "low fat" flavors. I'm so sad because I was so looking forward to that after baby comes. :(

I'm 17 weeks today, and oh is this bump is growing! Feeling little flutters that absolutely must be LO. So cool. A/S is next Tuesday and DH and I cannot wait to see her. Also getting ready to head to Europe for 3 weeks (so excited!) -- the first week is for work, the next two weeks will be vacation with DH.

QOTW: Haagen Dazs Caramel Cone, for sure. And now all this talk of ice cream has me thinking about a midday excursion to get some.

@JennyS86 Huge congrats on your babies! You guys will be in my thoughts. Big hugs and FX.

Allison7 I'm also not gaining, holding steady at the same weight +/- a pound or two since we got our BFP. It's totally unnerving considering I feel like I'm eating more than usual and focusing on healthy proteins (ignore that bit about how I'm gonna go find ice cream right now). I, too, had a couple pounds come on thanks to IF treatments, but I'm still at a very healthy BMI. Anyway, not gaining is just weird, right?

liz4paws I am in love with that chair! Which brand is it? Want!!

  • Hi ladies, this week has been good. We are team blue, found out yesterday.  I had a strong feeling it was a boy and we were right!  Everything else was good during our anatomy scan, those ultrasound technicians definitely know what they are doing because we had a hard time seeing the baby and his body parts.

We finally got our maternity shoot pictures and shared it with our friends and family. It was really nice to see how happy and supportive friends have been.

QOTW:  My favorite ice cream, hands down is mint chocolate chip. The green ice cream with bittersweet chocolate chips, even better with whipped cream and hot fudge.

  • I went to my local MoM meet up (my first) and the wife of my husband's company's HR manager was there. She went to the same RE as I did which is funny bc my husband had called hers complaining that ivf and ivf meds weren't covered and turns out he was in the same boat as us! Their company now has coverage so go figure.

Nothing so new. I got my first flu shot in like 10 years. My MFM wanted to be safe. I didn't realize how much that shot sucked.

QOTW: which one isn't my favorite?!? Gonna be a long ice cream filled prego summer!
Me: 34 - low ovarian reserve
    DH: 40 - no issues

    3 failed IUI's

    IVF #1 3/12 - 13 eggs, 9 fertilized,  2 transferred (1 grade 2 blast, 1 early blast), no frosties, 3/30/12 - 9dp5dt spotting, BFNs

    IVF #3 Now (12/13). AMH is very low - 0.19. ER (12/5) 12 eggs, 10 mature, 7 fertilized using ICSI. 3 transferred (8,8,8 cell - all grade 2) on day 3. First beta - 12/21/13 = 126, beta #2 - 12/23/13 = 400, beta #3 - na (office was closed for new year's). First sonogram - TWINS aka OMG! -
