MFI - Vericocele Repair

We are diagnosed MFI, DH has an appointment on Wednesday at which he will be discussing a second vericocele repair. Was wondering if anyone has an experience with vericocele repair either via surgery or embolism?

We had a vericocele repair surgery in 2009 and conceived DD about 4 months after. Just wanting to know others experiences. Cross posting this on multiple boards.

DD conceived after 3 years of ttc.
MFI - DH had varicocele repair and took Clomid to get DD b. 02/2010

TTC #2 since 6/2010
10/2012 DH diagnosed with Epilepsy
A few failed IUIs summer 2012 and 2013. 
DH taking clomid and waiting to see if he needs another vericocele repair. 
Hoping for a 2015 baby or babies. 
Wishing, hoping, waiting.

    No experience here, but I'm interested in knowing others' experiences. DH has a bilateral varicocele- he only knew about the left when I got pregnant with DS. The urologist said that a repair probably wouldn't help with our issues (morphology), so we haven't pursued a repair, but we're getting desperate!

    Hubs had surgery in 2011, but it was really to stop any further damage... Up until then his best was around half million to a million. His most recent SA was 3 million so some improvement!

    April Fresh Cycle, FAILED. Frozen embryos frozen for future FETs.

    This is us EXACTLY (kind of weird actually!).

    OP, dumb question, but you are saying that another varicocele developed after the first surgery? And your urologist is willing to operate again?




    IVF/ICSI #1 - BFP, DS born Jan 2013

    I did some research and the chances of a recurrence with laparoscopic surgery is like 10-20%, but with microsurgery it is less than 10%... Not certain what type of surgery he had last time (5 years ago). Going to have him ask at his appointment tomorrow.

    He was looking at possibly doing an embolism, but the recurrence is much higher and the results are such a large range, from worse to better than surgery. We are running out of time, due to insurance ending after this year, so want the best results as soon as possible. The reason we were considering embolism is it is less invasive, less painful, and shorter recovery.

    If I remember correctly the surgery had the biggest impact on motility.
