When to test

This is not a post to ask whether you guys think I'm pregnant or not so don't worry. This is my second cycle off of bc and the first period was right on time and just like they were on bc. Well this time we used the pull out method around ovulation and now my period came about 5 days early and is basically just spotting for a couple days first brown then pink but not enough to fill a tampon. My question is I feel I should test so should I do it now or wait until my period was expected at the end of this week? I don't want to waste money on a test by doing it too early.
