Cloth Diapering

Would You Buy This Stash?

I'm looking at building my stash for when baby will be a little bigger (we'll use covers and prefolds for newborn stage, plus a few nb AIO).  Would you buy these used diaps?  Total, asking $175 (used with one baby til toddlerhood)  Any other questions you'd want to ask?

10 one size, all in one Bum Genius diapers (all the organic version)
2 one size, all in one Grovia diapers
2 one size Grovia covers
7 assorted covers (all one size)
3 super thick bambo Zebi prefolds
8 bamboo cloth wipes
2 wet bags (one lg, one sm)
A laundry bag

I'll also throw in a stack of prefolds I have left if you want them.
My baby just turned 2 so they have all been purchased within the last 2 years.  I mainly dryer dried.  In the assorted covers there are 3 econobum, 1 blueberry, and 3 thirsties.  The elastic appears to still be in good shape on those.  On a couple the elastic is a little stained.  I haven't used them in about 6 months but I don't remember any leakage at all.  And I was thinking they were all one size but now that I'm examining tags, it appears that the assorted ones are size 2. (9 months+)  and now that I think about it, I don't remember buying the Blueberry and Econobums new so maybe they are a little older.  The Grovia covers are really nice and the newest ones.  They work really well as swim diapers too.

ETA:  Totally unrelated, but where the heck can I order a tube of CJ's Butter Unscented???  I've been looking everywhere, but can't find the tube form at all (everyone is sold out).  I'm 35 weeks and having a boy.  I'd like to have some handy for his arrival, so I'm getting a little frantic. (because totally rational new moms get frantic over diaper paste...)

Re: Would You Buy This Stash?

  • The sentence about using grovia covers as a swim diaper has me leery about everything else. I wouldn't use anything routinely used as a swim dipe for a regular dipe. Plus some of the dipes are older or different sizes than she remembers.
Price seems a little high to me too.

  • Ooooh, so maybe she's used the Grovias for swim diapers and the chlorine would have affected them?  Eeesh, didn't even think of that.

  • Price is good, but like book it said, I would have to see them in person, as it sounds a little sketchy.

And I think I heard CJs is discontinuing the tubes, that's why everyone is sold out. Most people prefer the tubs anyway, a lot gets wasted in the tube.

  • She's local, so I can go see them in person.  I'm new to CD'ing, so seeing them in person wouldn't be the most effective for me though.  I wouldn't be totally sure what I'm looking for.  Any images you could share of things to look for/steer clear of?  Thank you ladies for the help!!!

And @mrshudson618 Thanks for the info!  I wasn't sure if it changed the consistency.  I'm expecting a boy, and I've heard recommendations on this board that CJ's is excellent for post circumcision care as well as diaper rash.

  • @bookitup you are a fantabulous storehouse of knowledge!  Thank you!
  • I love the OBGEs, but I would NOT, I repeat WOULD NOT buy them used. Especially after only 10 being used through toddlerhood and dryer dried all the time.

I have new, used for 6+ months, and used OBGEs and there is a huge difference. There are holes in the used ones, the cotton isn't as fluffy and they don't absorb nearly as much either. And from drying in the dryer just for 6 months, I can tell a little difference in those vs the "new" ones.

@potterowl They've been out for a few months, in the tubes, that is.  I'll probably end up buying from the same company but in the bigger jar/tub version, now that I know the consistency is the same.
