Hospital checklist

Hey everyone. So I am new to all of this. I went by a checklist on one of these pregnancy apps. I can't help but feel like I'm still missing some things. I don't think it's that serious.. I mean worst comes the worst someone will most likely run out and get me what I need. I just want to be prepared.

It would be fabulous for someone to tell me what they packed!!! I also feel like I went a little over board with some things.. Due to the fact that they may provide me with those items?

Thought...

Re: Hospital checklist

  • There have been many conversations on this so I would search the board for hospital bag checklist or something of that nature - hope that helps!

  • With my first one I threw some clothes in a bag on my way out the door.  A lot of my friends change into regular clothes after birth, but I was leaking so much milk and blood it was easier for me to just wear the hospital gowns.  Bring a charger for your phone- most hospitals don't get good reception and will drain your battery quickly.  The hospital will provide gowns, underwear, lotion, soap, toothbrushes, etc., so really all you need is yourself and a pair of clothes to change into when you leave, as well as an outfit and car seat for baby.  However, the toiletries (at least where I work) are not exactly high-quality, so you may want to bring your own!  Also, know that you will likely be told you cannot eat once you check in, until after the delivery- so don't go hungry!
  • It depends on what your hospital has for you. Here's what I packed:

    For me:
    - Small bag of travel toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, lotion, toothpaste, lip balm)
    - Two cheap nightgowns and one cheap thin robe to wear after I deliver
    - Slippers
    - Two pairs of yoga pants, two nursing tanks, and two nursing bras

For H (he has his own bag):
    - A change of clothes
    - iPad/iPhone charger, camera
    - He will share toiletries with me
    - A twin-sized air mattress, sleeping bag, and pillow (there are no beds for husbands...there is a chair that "pulls out" into a bed-type thing, but there is no way my 6'4" husband will fit on it)

    For baby:
    - One NB option for going home outfit, and one 0-3 option
    - Stocked diaper bag (diapers, wipes, receiving blanket, etc)
    - Pacifier for the ride home in case we want to use it
