Re: Preeclampsia Article

  • I started developing pre-e with my last pregnancy so they induced me a week early.  I think there are different signs and symptoms but for me, it was that I had a headache for like 2 days that would NOT go away (not a migraine, just a dull headache), that made my vision just a slight bit blurry, and I got REALLY swollen seemingly overnight... I knew to be on the lookout for this, because my SIL had life-threatening pre-e with her first, so I went right away to SuperTarget and had them take my blood pressure.  I have insanely low BP, and it was up, so I called my doc right away. She told me to take it easy for the day, and to have my BP re-checked that afternoon.  It was still high, so she had me come in, and put me on bedrest for the last 3 weeks of my pregnancy, and then induced me a week early.

I can be really serious or not a big deal at all, but if you have the symptoms, definitely pay attention.

ETA: I should add that I am overweight, but my SIL is definitely NOT (in fact, if anything, she's underweight).
