Hey Ladies! Welcome to our first official weekly high risk check in! I haven't quite decided how I am planning on doing this, so it may change based on participation.
I may have a set of the same questions each week and then a GTKY? Does that work?
How many weeks are you now?
Why are you considered high risk?
When will you begin seeing the high risk Drs. or if you have already, what are they doing for prevention currently?
Anything else to add?
GTKY: Is this your first, second, third, etc. LO?
Re: High Risk Check in March 20th
Why are you considered high risk? I am high risk for PTL. I have an irritable uterus and incompetent cervix! I had 13 weeks of bed rest with DS and am totally hoping to avoid that this time!
When will you begin seeing the high risk Drs. or if you have already, what are they doing for prevention currently? I actually just switched practices to be able to see a midwife and an MFM at the same time, which is great. I need to schedule my appointment with the MFM in the next 2-3 weeks to see what our plan of action is going to be for watching my cervix. At my NT scan at my old office last week, my cervix was measuring 3.9 cm, which is right what is should be for a "normal" pregnancy. So here is to hoping it can hold itself together this time....literally ha.
Anything else to add? Looking forward to getting to know all of you a little better. I hope we can all have full term babies this time!
GTKY: Is this your first, second, third, etc. LO? This is our second and last LO! I am trying to enjoy this pregnancy, but it is just so hard to do with higher anxiety!
I have millions of giant fibroids. I (my ute) currently measure 18 or so weeks ahead. I'm at risk for placental abruption. We're trying to avoid inducing due to blood pressure this time around. I've had two preemies.
Already seeing high risk doc in addition to my normal OB. I'm doing the p 17 shots, taking baby aspirin, being monitored for IUGR by regular ultrasounds. I told my husband that it feels like my my regular doctor is breaking up with me. She has taken such amazing care of me during two pretty awful pregnancies. I'm really bummed about my current doctor situation. She told me she just feels my situation requires more than she can do. She's totally using the "it's me, not you" line.
Third and last baby. We were planning a hysterectomy when we found out we were pregnant. This baby has a long road ahead and I'm surprised we have made it this far. We've been taking it day by day. I enjoy coming here and pretending I'm having a normal pregnancy.
I also enjoy coming here and pretending I have a normal pregnancy, but at the same time, it is sad to see how much extra stress we have to go through compared to a normal low risk pregnancy. =/.
Why are you considered high risk? Cervical Cancer, Stage 1A-1, Round 2
When will you begin seeing the high risk Drs. or if you have already, what are they doing for prevention currently? Perinatologist will be checking my cervical length periodically to rule out emergency cerclage(since we are almost past that window now), and obviously monitoring baby's growth.
Anything else to add? Happy to be here and thank you for the check in
GTKY: Is this your first, second, third, etc. LO? Second and last, since I will most likely have a partial hysterectomy after this baby to negate the threat of cancer returning for a third time.
Why are you considered high risk? My son was born at 32 weeks due to IUGR and pre-e.
When will you begin seeing the high risk Drs. or if you have already, what are they doing for prevention currently? I don't think I will be seeing any special doctors other than those in my OB office (as far as I know)...the plan down the road (I think closer to late 2nd tri/early 3rd tri) is to monitor this baby's growth with regular u/s, and also monitor my blood pressure and urine for signs of pre-e).
Anything else to add? Wishing of all the other high risk mommas smooth and uneventful pregnancies!
GTKY: Is this your first, second, third, etc. LO? second
Why are you considered high risk? I have Rheumatoid Arthritis and Sjogrens Syndrome with strongly positive SS-A and SS-B Antibodies.
When will you begin seeing the high risk Drs. or if you have already, what are they doing for prevention currently? I see them throughout my pregnancy for very frequent u/s of the babys heart (PR Intervals). They are looking for any signs of heart block.
Anything else to add? I have had two perfectly healthy rainbow babys without heart block so they say my chances of another uneventful pregnancy are pretty good.
GTKY: Is this your first, second, third, etc. LO? This will be our third and last. All boys.

[/RA with Sjogren's Syndrome. Risk of heart block in newborn. Age: DH and I are both 38.
BFP #1: 11/25/2007, EDD 7/28/2008 - Missed m/c (blighted ovum) 12/6/2007 6w3d, D&C 1/3/2008.
BFP #2: 4/2008 - Natural m/c at 6w.
Met with RE in 5/2008 full cycle analysis and SA normal. Not considered high risk for blood clots but prescribed 1 baby aspirin a day precautionary during TTC and Progesterone suppositories during 1st trimester of pregnancy.
BFP #3: 10/17/2008. EDD 6/23/2009, Third time's the charm! Healthy baby boy born 6/27/2009 via emergency c-section.
BFP #4: 6/14/2011. Healthy baby boy born 2/16/2012 via elective c-section.
BFP #5: 1/15/2014. EDD 9/22/2014. 2/17/14:.We have a BABY!!! Heart rate 167 and measuring on time. 3/10/14 u/s #2 baby measuring perfectly at 12 weeks at heart rate of 166. NT u/s was normal. Maternit21 blood draw on 3/5/14. Results back on 3/19 - Normal. It's a BOY!!! 4/10/14 at 16 weeks, 3 days discovered baby's heart stopped at 15 weeks, 6 days. D&C 4/11/14. Pathology results were all normal. New information on 8/11/14 - blood test revealed 1/3 of babys blood was in mine caused, most likely, by a tear in the placenta from extreme coughing. Doctor believes this to be the cause of death. Repeat D&C and Hysteroscopy scheduled for 8/19/14. My Chart
I'm technically high risk but have had normal pregnancies and the likelyhood is that this one will also go the same.
Maybe I shouldn't do this check-in?

Why are you considered high risk?
When will you begin seeing the high risk Drs. or if you have already, what are they doing for prevention currently?
Anything else to add?
GTKY: Is this your first, second, third, etc. LO?
16weeks
Why are you considered high risk?
I have a blood clotting disorder call Leiden Factor V. I have previously had a pulmonary embolism so that puts me at a slightly higher risk.
When will you begin seeing the high risk Drs. or if you have already, what are they doing for prevention currently?
As soon as I got my BFP they pulled me into MFM also I see a hemotalogist ever four weeks right now as well. They always coincide with the Dr so it's not too bad.
GTKY: Is this your first, second, third, etc. LO?
This is out second LO. We had to go through all this with our DD and everything was great. It's a little more difficult for us but it's absolutely worth it!
16 weeks
Why are you considered high risk?
I guess I'm technically on the lower risk too. I see an MFM, and have weekly BPPs from 32 weeks on. I have a chromosome inversion, that's balanced, and MTHFR compound hetero that has contributed to 6 losses. My MFM feels strongly that it can cause placenta problems, PTL, and other issues in 3rd tri. I'm also on Lovenox.
When will you begin seeing the high risk Drs. or if you have already, what are they doing for prevention currently?
I saw my MFM at 11 weeks for my NT scan. Next is my a/s. I'll have weekly BPPs at his office starting at 32 weeks, and multiple visiting starting at my a/s.
GTKY: Is this your first, second, third, etc. LO? Hopefully #2!
Why are you considered high risk? I had a LEEP done on precancerous cells in 2007.
When will you begin seeing the high risk Drs. or if you have already, what are they doing for prevention currently? I see MFM Monday and plan was to see them every 2 weeks until 24 weeks for cervical length checks but after visiting with the other more experienced OB in my practice today he thinks it may be unnecessary since I had my DS on his due date. I am going to ask MFM what they think on Monday.
GTKY: Is this your first, second, thir/d, etc. LO? This is my 2nd and last. We found out today that DS is getting a brother.
How many weeks are you now? 15 Weeks
Why are you considered high risk? Ahh..the list is long...
* Heart condition that causes my HR and BP to suddenly drop causing me to pass out. I have a pacemaker implanted. This is caused by damage to my autonomic nerve which also affects my body temperature, stomach motility, thyroid function, blood sugar, etc...So all of those things tend to be out of whack too.
* My pregnancy with my DS----I delivered at 35 weeks due to pre-e that led to e with HELLP. DS spent 9 days in NICU but thankfully is healthy.
* GD with previous pregnancy (and now this one too....GRRRR)
* "AMA"---I am 40. Will be a month shy of 41 when I deliver.
When will you begin seeing the high risk Drs. or if you have already, what are they doing for prevention currently? I've already seen MFM---My regular OB sent me to him immediately after my 1st apt at 7 weeks. I essentially see both High Risk and regular OB every other week, but they alternate, so I end up seeing a doctor every week. That is by their design.
I have a nice collection of ultrasound pics at this point. I return to High Risk on Monday to get results of Materniti21 test. Nervous but excited to find out boy/girl. We were team green with the first and while I wanted to do that again, my DH was really wanting to know this time. I gave in and now am excited to find out!
I also see a nutritionist once a month at the High Risk office to manage the GD. My 2nd apt is in 2 weeks.
" I agree with the poster who wrote this!
Anything else to add? "Thanks for doing this! The high risk board is crazy slow, and it's nice to have a check in on our own BMB
I am so hoping to be able to keep this baby cooking till my scheduled 39 week C-section. Look forward to taking this journey with all of you!
GTKY: Is this your first, second, third, etc. LO? 2nd LO---my DS was born in Oct 2012----in the midst of Hurricane Sandy here on Long Island----let's just say that was an experience I hope to not repeat!
16 weeks - will be 17 on Monday
Why are you considered high risk?
I have PCOS, incompetent cervix, past 2nd trimester miscarriage, and a history of gestational diabetes. Oh and I'm 35 going on 36 in a few months. I currently have a shirodkar suture ( cerclage) in. I had 104 days of bedrest and a bout of pre-term labor with my daughter - but was able to deliver full term.
When will you begin seeing the high risk Drs. or if you have already, what are they doing for prevention currently?
Since I"m out of the country ( not in USA) and they don't have them here - I haven't seen one yet. Ideally I would have been to one at 10 weeks. However I should be seeing mine within a week when I arrive. I've had a cerclage put in and I've had frequent cervical measurements.
Anything else to add?
I am quite anxious about this. My pregnancy has gone well so far, I'm 15 weeks.
Have you had any complications?
I have post thrombotic syndrome in my leg which seems to have got worse since pregnancy. I hope it's just a coincidence and not related.
My cervix starts changing right around 20 weeks and I am at 13 right now...my anxiety level is slowly starting to increase the farther I go along. I swear I have also started feeling some Braxton Hicks.
How many weeks are you now? 14w
Why are you considered high risk? I delivered my daughter at 32 weeks. Totally out-of-the blue delivery - my water just broke, then nothing for a good 8 hours in terms of dilating, then boom, 10cm the next morning and out came baby. Docs don't know why it happened. DD only spent 15 days in the NICU, though, so considering how early she was, she did really well.
When will you begin seeing the high risk Drs. or if you have already, what are they doing for prevention currently? I had my first MFM appointment at 12 weeks for my NT scan. It's the same MFM I saw when I delivered DD and I like their office. For now, they plan to do cervical checks every 4 weeks starting at 16 weeks, and I'm starting progesterone shots at 16 weeks. Doc doesn't think my cervix was the issue, though, since it took over 6 hours for me to start dilating after my water broke and contractions started, but we're monitoring everything at this point. I'm feeling a lot more confident now than I was before - my last pregnancy was considered routine so I wasn't monitored that closely, and the only ultrasounds I had were at 12 and 20 weeks. This time I've been having them every few weeks, and we're keeping an eye on things. Reassuring.
Anything else to add? I remembered a few weeks ago that I had complained to my doc during my last pregnancy of a smell (tmi, sorry) and thought I might have an infection. The first culture came up negative, then the second time I complained I don't think we did a culture because I didn't have any additional symptoms. So I wonder if I didn't have an infection last time and that's what caused my PTL. In which case, that's something relatively easy to look out for and deal with this time. Hopefully it's that simple! I guess we'll see.
GTKY: Is this your first, second, third, etc. LO? This is my second. DD will be 3 in a few weeks
DD1, born 4/10/11 at 32 weeks
Cooking #2
How many weeks are you now? 16 weeks

Why are you considered high risk? I have type 1 diabetes and hypothyroidism.
When will you begin seeing the high risk Drs. or if you have already, what are they doing for prevention currently? I will not be seeing a high risk OB (unless something dramatically changes). I will have every other week and then weekly NSTs and BPPs starting at around 26 weeks (I think...I can't seem to get dates right in my head) and I will have a fetal echocardiogram done at 20 weeks. Most likely I will get induced early around 38-39 weeks.
Anything else to add? I'm getting pretty sick of testing my blood sugar 8-10 times a day but I keep telling myself things could be much worse. According to my calculations I will test my blood sugar over 2,300 times this pregnanacy and give myself around 2,100 shots of insulin. That makes me feel like some sort of super hero
GTKY: Is this your first, second, third, etc. LO?
This is my 2nd. I have a very healthy little girl at home and she was born without any complications but I am hoping this one will be just as healthy too!
This is my first baby - my husband and I are very excited but nervous too ...
How many weeks are you now? 14 weeks
Why are you considered high risk?
1. I have a chiari brain malformation which can worsen with the pushing of natural labor and or the epidural of a csection can also possibly worsen it leading to brain surgery - or I can have general anesthesia which I am also freaked out by
2. We are waiting to hear back from my cvs test but both my husband and I are SMA carriers
When will you begin seeing the high risk Drs. or if you have already, what are they doing for prevention currently?
I just transferred to the high risk doctors after my CVS test was done - they put me in touch with another patient who has chiari and is on her second child - helped a bit but still pretty nervous
Anything else to add? I'm super grateful for this board. Knowing you're not the only one going through something is reassuring. Best of luck to all of us
