I've never heard anything about it not being safe.  It's also used in quite a few hair products.

I don't think you have anything to worry about, but if you're still concerned just ask your OB.

  • I've used it daily for this current pregnancy and when I was pregnant with ds, too. I think it is safe....it's not like we are eating it.

  • You should be fine. Besides, what's done is done. If it still worries you though it's never to late to switch to something natural like aloe, shea butter, coconut oil, or grapeseed oil. They are better for you and completely natural, so no chemicals with unknown long term effects. I use baby oil myself. Stopped using lotion a few years ago after my coworkers and I accidentally spilled some on a sidewalk and it stained. Seriously, it is still there 3 years later surviving all sorts of weather. If it does that to concrete what is it doing to you.

Here is a slideshow about some of these moisturizers if you are interested. https://www.slideshare.net/jefftapper/whats-under-your-skin
Personally, I have felt better since eliminating unnecessary ingredients in the majority of my life. I'm not saying I'm completely natural or organic, but that I am more aware and opt for the simpler choice when I can.
  • Aveeno is one of the best lotions you can use. My mum used it when she was having cancer treatment which really dried her skin out. She had to be super careful about chemicals getting into her system and they recommended Aveeno. It's great for exczema too.

  • I know it is helpful for eczema...coming from a person who has it and whose husband has it also, it's great stuff. I think you're fine!

  • Dimethicone is a liquid silicone. It's fine. Totally safe. It's in a lot of baby lotions, creams, and diaper rash treatments too.

  • Jen-b99 is right. It's just a slip agent. The 1.5% makes it sound like its a drug, but it's nothing that penetrates your skin like retinol. It's in a bizillion things. Absolutely nothing to worry about so keep on using it.
  • Thank you all
