Re: Gallbladder pain?

  • Eating a low fat diet will help prevent the pain from starting. Or at least it did in my experience. Otherwise, nothing helped.

  • Agreed! I had issues last year. Lay off any high fat food, especially fried food. Eat more lean foods and lots and lots of water.
  • Agreed. Surgery was the best thing I did. I didn't have stones, my gallbladder just basically fell apart. I was told no more than 5g of fat at a time and that helped keep the pain away until I had surgery.
  • Same as @ohyealovely. No stones but my gallbladder was all, "Peace, fools" and never looked back. For relief in the mean time I did what PPs have said - bland foods (oatmeal helped me a lot), OTC meds, and for some reason drinking a glass of milk really helped for a while. Feel better!

  • How did you know the pain was attributed to your gallbladder? I've had pain pretty consistently under my right shoulder blade. Heat and laying down relieves the pain temporarily.
  • This is fabulous. Thank you thank you for the great tips. I am desperate for some pain relief.

  • @kwatts14 - a lot of people get pain in the center of their body, right below the breastbone. Sometimes it spreads out to your right side as well. It will likely get worse after meals if it's your gallbladder. Also feeling a prickly sensation in your shoulderblades can be a sign. If you feel like you have heartburn that is on some kind of steroids with a lot of anger issues, your gallbladder might be the culprit.

  • Thank you @flerlgirl‌ ! I will try some of the tips below to see if they help. Good luck to everyone!
  • Nothing as far as diet went helped me it happened no matter what, I sat with a heating pad wrapped around me most of the time when the pain was really bad.
  • I haven't found a solution yet.  But I'm not sure mine is my gallbladder.  My doc said it sounded more like just regular pregnancy heartburn/indigestion.  But I was up vomiting for 2 hours in the middle of the night last night with it, which definitely wasn't part of my first pregnancy.  I think smaller meals has made it happen less often, but I'm not 100% sure as it wasn't happening all the time before.

  • pregnancy is notorious for trashing the gallbladder. the way my doctor explained it, there really i sno solution other than to remove it if it has gone bad. my diet was super healthy when i had my issues so there was no relief based upon food consumption. did they look inside to see if it is diseased or stone-filled?
