Groomer Costs

How much are you charged for your animal to be groomed? We have a cock-a-poo that weighs about 10 pounds that i get groomed regularly. I found this great place that cuts his hair, bathes him, and does his nails for $35.00!! I was just curious about other spots. The place we went before charged me $85.00.

Re: Groomer Costs

  • Ours is 80.00.

Our dog is tiny (8 lbs soaking wet) but she gets a Schnauzer cut so I guess that's why the charge is so high?

  • Our poodle is 54lbs.  We are usually quoted something like $125 (+/- $25) for full grooming.  Suffice it to say, I always do the grooming myself.

  • 2 Old English Sheepdogs. I used to show them so I'm capable of grooming them but I really hate doing it anymore. I recently got a quote for $200 and $250 for a total of $450 for both. Yeah, right. I just wanted them clipped down which I know takes just over 2 hours, bath takes about 10 minutes and, after the shave, there isn't even any dry time. Even with finishing, like scissoring around the face, it should not take over 3.5 hours. For both dogs, that works out to be about $65 an hour. I think I'm in the wrong business. Needless to say, I'm doing it myself.

Damn! I have always wanted a poodle but hearing the grooming costs is scaring me away. Is s/he easy to groom? I feel like I don't have the skills to do it well myself! @tiffanyberry
I don't  think he's too hard to groom, but I grew up grooming my toy poodles.  It takes some work - especially if you don't keep them brushed.  I can bathe, dry, brush, and trim him in about 2.5hrs, but it's taken some time to get to that.  I do it about... every 6-10 weeks.  In the summer I more or less "strip" him using a #10 blade, which doesn't require me to bathe him first.  (I also did that this time, because his fur was pretty matted.)

I LOVE the fact that poodles don't shed.  (I like the other poodle features too, but I particularly love this one), and this is a worthwhile price to pay for me.)
