I registered for the same fox toy basket! Your mom did a beautiful job! Love all the colors your picked! Where did you find your rug?
Ikea! I had this button one picked out, but when we went to look at it, we had the fabric samples and that dot one was the perfect orange. It was meant to be!
@Luckyu317 Thanks! The curtain fabric kind of inspired the whole thing. I was thinking turquoise and maybe a fox theme, but when my mom and I were fabric shopping I saw that giraffe print and that kind of set the colours and tone for the whole room. My mom spent a lot of time making sure all the giraffes lined up perfectly on each panel.
@CuteBride8808 the dresser is part of the Hemnes line from Ikea. We have the Hemnes tallboy dressers (2 of them) in our bedroom, and we really like the classic look. It kind of goes with everything. lol.
Thanks for the love everyone! My husband hung up the valance on the other winder today so it's pretty much finished. Big check-mark off the list
Well, we have no actual stuff in there yet, but hubby and I are giant nerds and decided to paint the room LOTR themed. We hand-painted a map of middle earth on the one wall, painted the other 3 green, and did a gold celtic border with the One Ring script written in the center.
Responses to our decision have been mixed thus far
How can you be getting mixed opinions? That is the most amazing nursery ever!
@ALE515 my H is hugely crushing on you right now lol. That is seriously awesome Watching the Nightmare Before Christmas was what we did for our first date back when we were both in high school lol
Carpet finally installed. Now we just need the furniture which we will hopefully get soon. Sorry for the pic being sideways
I love the dark turquoise accent wall. It looks so sharp with the white trim and grey!
Thanks so much!! It's a really small room, only 81 sq ft. But the brightness of the grey and white make the room look bigger. When we bought the house, all the walls were a kelly green, it made the room look so much smaller than it is.
Also we are team green, so once we know what gender baby is, we're going to put stuff on the walls in an accent color of either hot pink or navy blue

"> Thank you! I still have the original toys from 1993 and used Jack and Sally as my cake topper at my wedding. I just had to design DS room like this!

I did make it! It was a lot of effort, but I have gotten so many compliments on it, it was totally worth it. I really like how it adds some color and ties that side of the room together.
I see lots of cute white wall mirrors posted. Where did you find them? I've having no luck in my usual (cheap) places.

Mid-process. Hubby finished stenciling the star wall and dresser (which will be the changing table)and he put the crib together tonight. Yes that is my old Cabbage Patch kid testing out the crib! We started hanging prints on our gallery wall too.
We finally painted the spare pink bedroom (pink was left behind from previous owners). I'm loving the gray. The crib should arrive this week. I'll post more pics later.
@rachelca29 I am planning on that same fabric pattern for the curtains our nursery!!!! I want the black curtains w/ white giraffes. I might do the white with gray elephants. Did you do those yourself? I am planning on using that iron-on hemming tape. I am not handy but I'm determined to get this.
@yvanehtnioj my mom made them for me, I sew, but she used to be a seamstress (she owned a bridal store).
She went all out on them though; she lined up the giraffes on each panel perfectly, and made sure each tab at the top had a giraffe on it, going in the same direction/spacing as the pattern. And each tab is held closed with a matching button. It used a bit more fabric than just doing basic panels with a pocket top for a rod.
I would have not been as precise if I made them myself, but making the drapes and blankets and recovering the chair was her big gift to us for the baby, so she literally spent a month doing it.
I don't have experience with the hem tape stuff, but it is pretty heavy-weight drapery fabric so I don't know how well it would hold. But if it did hold, you could easily use the rings with clips at the top to hang them from the rod.
@rachelca29 thanks for the info about the weight. That may change things for me because I don't have the skills/tools for normal hemming. I never even thought of having the giraffes line up! Oh well, that's why my craft projects come out looking busted
Almost done! Just need our dresser and decorations. The place we ordered our furniture from tried delivering us the wrong dresser :-/ it wasn't even the right color! Sheesh! But I'm loving it so far. Only about 5 weeks to go until we meet little boy!
