High-Risk Pregnancy

Team green last time; not sure this time...

For our first baby, we were team green even with biweekly appts (or more often) and 5 weeks of hospital bed rest. I kinda want to find out the gender this time around (I'm only 4+ weeks, so I know it's really premature to ask this) to feel bonded quicker than I felt last time, but there were also a lot of other circumstances that didn't help with the bonding and my emotional state--having a 30 weeker with a 7 week NICU stay, failing at pumping, etc.

Does anyone have any experience being team green with one baby, then finding out the gender the next time around? If so, did it change how much you felt bonded with your baby to know the gender?

  • I'm not sure why this is posted in high risk (you will get more responses on the tri boards or somewhere else), but we found out with DD and are not/did not find out with this baby. I don't think it has made a difference personally. I have been much busier with a preschooler running around this time to be super involved with the pregnancy, but I think that is typical.

  • @rainydayluck, I posted this on high-risk, because the reason I may not want to find out the gender is more about me being high-risk and having had complications with my first and probably will with this one as well. "Normal" pregnancy moms don't usually understand how we feel in terms of having a preemie and other issues during pregnancy. I did post it in the preemies board also, since I check on there often as well.
  • I was team green with my first. High risk the entire pregnancy and delivered at 35 weeks due to severe pre-e with HELLP. With this LO we decided to find out. I don't think I feel any more or less bonded than I did with my first. I do find myself busier this time chasing around my toddler and keeping up with daily life so I am not thinking about this LO all the time as I did last time. But I already love this LO!
