Working Moms - Bottle question

I have mentioned here before that my son hates taking a bottle.

It seems like it takes all week for him to get the hang of it and then the weekend “resets” him.

Do you give baby a bottle on your days off or do you just BF?

I really don’t want to pump on the weekends. I love my BF time but, if giving him a bottle will help the sitter, I will do it…

Re: Working Moms - Bottle question

  • We only bottle feed/pump if I am away from DS or if we have a bottle that needs to be used up.

If I were going to pump and bottle feed, I would do the first feed in the am because DS takes 4 oz bottles but I can get more than that at that time.

  • when my DS was still taking bottles at daycare, we just breastfed on the weekends/evenings.

but, how old is your LO? they may just need some time to get the hang of it.
  • Try to BF on weekends if you're just at home. Give the bottle but maybe just once or twice depends on how much LO feeds.

  • Have you tried different kinds of bottles/nipples? Some babies are fussy and like some better than others. We have a graveyard of bottles that he didn't like. :-|

Maybe try one bottle on the weekend for a couple of weeks, then go back to nursing only on wkends and see if there's improvement? And as PP have said, if you haven't tried different bottles/nipples, that can make a difference. My LO went from begrudgingly taking bottles to being happier about it when we switched to Tommee Tippee.
  • Thanks all. I have tried two differen't Dr. Brown's, Tomee tippee, Momma, Mimijumi and playtex drop ins. The Momma one he seems to like best. Mimijumi is the least liked.
