How do I keep quiet???

Hello mommies!

We just found out 2 days ago that we are expecting our first baby.  I am 4 weeks and 2 days by all the calculations and I haven't been to the doctor yet (found out Friday and tomorrow is Monday). I want to scream it from the rooftops that we're pregnant but all those rumors about older mothers (I'm 36) is worrying me. Just needed to get it out there!!! I'm so excited/nervous/SHOCKED.Anyone else expecting a Thanksgiving baby???

I am also 36 and due around thanksgiving.  I am also worried and nervous to tell people while at the same time I want to tell everybody I talk to.  We told our immediate families but no one else yet and are just keeping our fingers crossed.  We are also super excited as well.

We kept things quiet with DS until I was around 25 weeks because of family business drama we wanted to keep things quiet so decisions were being made without the emotion involved.  Yes, it was hard, but we knew it HAD to be done...  With DD I think we waited until Easter that year to tell everyone and sent flowers to both Moms...

It's up to YOU two to decide when you want to tell everyone.  As my OB put it when I was PG with DS, "35 is the new 25!  since so many women are having babies later in life and he hasn't seen any difference in complication levels or other issues because of the Mom's age now that the stats are able to give more accurate data..."..

  • I am only 24, but We are expecting a Thanksgiving baby as well. We have decided not to tell anyone (inlcuding our families) until Easter... I am DYING to share!
  • We are due with #2 on Thanksgiving Day and were shocked, to say the least. We have an 8 month old right now, so the kids will b e 16 months apart. We shared with our parents and will tell our siblings in the next few weeks, then wait until after our 1st ultrasound on April 15th to tell anyone else. I am 41 but had a very healthy pregnancy with DD so we are keeping our fingers crossed that all goes smoothly. We felt comfortable telling family as we'd want their support should anything happen. It's totally your comfort level about who to tell when. Good luck!

  • I'm also 36 and our baby is due in November.  This will be our second child.  We told close family members (parents, siblings) after our first ultrasound, because those are the people we would want to know if anything happened good or bad.  If all goes well, we will tell the rest of the family around Easter and friends around the 12 week mark.  We did the same kind of thing with our first.  It can be really difficult to keep it in, but I just try to keep as busy as possible and hope that these 12 weeks fly by soon!

  • I appreciate your point about telling family - even early - so that God-forbid something happened, they would be there to support you. We didn't tell our families with our first pregnancy so it was a devastating phone call to make when we found out at 9 weeks that we had an ectopic pregnancy. "Hey, mom! We are finally pregnant, but now we are loosing the baby and a fallopian tube!" Not a fun conversation.

    Congratulations on the baby!
  • I'm due mid November and having a hard time keeping my mouth shut! So far only our parents know!

  • Hi :) I'm due Nov 26 2014. It'll be my first baby, but second pregnancy.

I'm 100% on board with shouting it from the mountain tops lol.
Last time we told early and unfortunately baby stopped growing at 8 wks but the love and support was astounding! Im so glad we did. I plan to do the same this time as soon as we have our first 8 wk ultrasound.

Aside from the support for us, I was SO happy that even for a brief moment the baby we had was known and loved by everyone :)
