Every single morning when I wake up, I have a horrific headache. I thought I could handle anything as long as I'm not nauseous. WRONG! This is awful. Working a full time job while pregnant sucks!
That sucks! I am used to the occasional migraine normally, but have had a nagging headache for the last 2 wks or so also and it is so aggravating. Sometimes it wakes me up in the middle of the night and I am miserable, but it sounds like yours is worse and more persistent. My dr said usually it is due to low blood sugar or dehydration...so I try to keep extra hydrated and have a snack around (altho I hate eating if I wake up during the night so that just doesn't work well). Orrrr maybe it's the hormones.
I have gotten a few bad headaches at night..I think they are tension headaches, but I get in a hot shower with some lavender oil and it seems to help a lot.
I was just getting ready to ask this myself. I have had the worst headaches- including one that has been going on for over 24 hours now (including waking up in the middle of the night.) I've had lots of migraines before- and this doesn't feel like that? but Tylenol and caffeine aren't helping at all, and yesterday I lost vision (blind spots and no peripheral vision at all) for about 45 minutes?? And then promptly threw up everything I ate. Anyone gone through that before? Any great ideas for getting rid of this? I work with a computer all day, so having a non stop headache is not going to cut it...
If the headaches are happening right when you wake up in the morning it could just be from dehydration. Try drinking a lot of water in the evening and before bed. I know the trade off will be broken sleep cuz you'll be peeing all night, but I'd rather pee all night than have a headache (says the girl who just popped a handful of tylenol to get rid of yet ANOTHER headache)
I read that alternating hot and cold compressions really helps, especially if it's sinus related. I tried it, and it definitely numbed the pain to a manageable level.
I'm in the same boat. I wake up feeling hungover everyday and it rarely goes away. Nothing works. I drink a lot of water so it isn't that. I have a cup of coffee daily, snack regularly. Plus staring at a computer screen for over 8 hours a day doesn't help.

That, my love, was a migraine with aura and I'm sorry you had to experience it. I've been getting them since I was about 13. I have a prescription for it, but it is not pregnancy or breastfeeding safe, so I usually just have to lie down in a dark room for a bit - the visual symptoms (and I have some other weird symptoms too) pass in about 30 minutes but I have a low grade headache usually for the rest of the day often into the next day.
A few tips - try to stretch a lot - your shoulders and neck and upper back - massages can help to prevent . Try to take computer breaks every 30 minutes and walk away. Triggers can be aged cheese or peanut butter or overly processed foods. Often they are because of hormonal changes too (probably in your case!).. stay SUPER hydrated, and yes caffeine can help - tylenol paired with a cup of coffee (I take Excedrin because my doctor said I could, but you should talk to your doc before doing that).

Hang in there!
thats what I was worried it was- I've had regular old migraines since I was about 16 or 17 (usually hormonal-menstrual cycle migraines) but the vision loss really threw me off...I promptly took a 3 hour nap yesterday afterwards and thought that would happen but no such luck!! Welp, thanks for the advice!!
I had horrible headaches in the first trimester where Tylenol would not relieve the pain. Luckily they have gone away and I hope yours go away soon as well!!
I've been dealing with these, also.. I've found that a warmed rice bag with chamomile and lavender helps some.. another expecting Mom friend of mine mentioned her OB prescribed her something for her migraines... it may be worth asking if they are persistent.. mine are not every day, but when they do come they last for 2-3 days straight.. I'm sorry you're dealing with this
I feel your pain. I hadn't experienced a headache in months, and out of no where they started last week. I've been getting them mostly in the middle of the night or when I first wake up. It stinks, I thought you were supposed to feel better in the second tri?
I had this around 13/14 weeks. It was horrible, I would wake up with really bad headaches and they wouldn't go away for hours. Hopefully it doesn't last too long for you!
I too, have been suffering from headaches for the past few weeks. I'm 13 weeks. What works best for me is one of those gel masks that you can put in the freezer and then on your eyes. That, along with a dark, quiet room really helps me out. Also warm towels on my shoulders helps as well.

The worst one I've ever had was the day we brought my son home from the hospital - I had numb fingers and mental confusion... my husband thought I had a stroke... ended up in the ER having CT and MRI utnil 4 AM... unfun! But everything was normal and it passed.
I've gotten migraines with aura for years prior to pregnancy and these that I'm getting are bad, but they're not quite on that level. Tylenol and water sometimes help but it seems like being on a computer 8 hours a day isn't making it easy! Hope you ladies don't have to suffer too much longer either!
