Teething LO's? Come in!

LO has been a little off for like 5 or so days. It's a struggle to get her to eat and she's been ruining atleast one outfit a day from the pooplosions she's having. She's not really fussy, it's just not like her to not want her bottle! I don't see or feel anything on her gums. She's not slobbering a lot and she has always chewed on anything she gets her hands on so nothing new there. Just wondering if I should chalk this weirdness up as teething or what! Thanks! Pic for your time!

Re: Teething LO's? Come in!

  • My LO has 4 teeth and another one coming through. When I warm her bottle, I keep the nipple in the refrigerator. She seems to chew on that first, then eat. If it's bad, I'll run my finger on her gums and massage them a little. If that doesn't soothe her, I use baby oragel, but that's an, if all else fails, thing.

  • My baby has been this way since Friday night.  He ran a fever off and on that night and then has had inconsolable screaming the rest of the time.  Will hardly eat because it looks like it hurts his mouth.  Poor baby.  I believe it is teething and hope a tooth breaks soon...

  • Sounds like teething to me.  The excess drool can cause poopsplosions.  Just because its not running down her face doesn't mean she isn't swallowing it.

We had a fussy weekend due to it.  Still can't see or feel anything but those teeth are definitely shifting around making DS2 a cranky boy.

  • Hudson got his 2 bottom teeth a few weeks ago.  The two days before he was screaming and drooling like crazy.

  • We had a rough weekend too!

Lots of chewing, fussing, drooling. I think I see two little white spots on her bottom gums so I'm assuming they're trying to pop through. We gave her baby Motrin...she's slept well at night, but during the day she's fussy and sleepy, but only cat naps. She's also hitting another wonder week so I think it may be a little of both.

@JLW0504‌ did the orajel seem to help?
  • Tylenol is a godsend. Actually, FFMC, I accidentally bought infant's ibuprofen. I used it last night, even though LO is 2 weeks shy of 6 months, and it seemed to work just as well. Poor guy went to bed screaming and woke up screaming. Breaks my heart.

  • @Shelley1002 Maybe THAT is why LO's been poopsploding for two weeks! He got his first tooth on Saturday, which explains the 1-2 hours of fussing before he falls asleep.

I tried Tylenol on Saturday & Sunday night and he slept sooo peacefully. We actually had to wake him up at 8:15am so we could get him ready for "school."

  • @ashleymarie512‌ the oragel works really well. I trybtobonky use it at night IF I need to,ootherwise we try teething rings, cold binkies, massaging her gums, let her chew on my fingers, etc.

You're using the Orajel Natural tablets, right? Not the actual numbing gel on the gums?

Oragel Naturals in the yellow/green box. Is that bad?

No no, that's good! It's the regular Orajel that has the potential side effects/reactions.

FWIW, I gave him some last night and I didn't notice a difference. An hour later, he was screaming and I went for the ibuprofen!

FTM here... How does the excess drool lead to poopsplosions?

They swallow a lot of it, which then gets digested (sometimes causing an increase in spit up too), and then it makes the poop a lot softer so it spreads easier/faster.
