Something new that I learned about opk's and hpt's

So, i'm a little bit neurotic, and I like to dip things in cups of my pee apparently. So, I have a bunch of OPK's that I don't really use for their purpose, but every time I take an HPT, I decide to take an OPK first. I know it's crazy. But I do it anyways.

So, over the last few days, I have taken my two tests and they have not turned positive in the designated timeframe. But again my neurosis comes out, and I dig them out of the trash and I look at them again an hour or two hours later. Whatever. And I discovered that if they are touching, or super close, in the little envelope that I stick them back into when I throw them into the trash, the dye from the OPK will apparently bleed onto the die of the HPT. This is the only explanation I can come up with for the pictures below.

I say this because I have taken some Hpt's without taking an OPK and sitting them next to each other in the trashcan, and the HPT result any blaring white Bfn.

I will test one more time tomorrow morning with FMU, but after that, I'm throwing in the towel. I have been taking progesterone for the last 10 days, so if tomorrow's is negative as I expected to be, I'll go off the progesterone and patiently wait for my new cycle to start. But I wanted to share this experience with you all, because I think I'm completely crazy, and I'm sure you guys can relate with my craziness. I also hope somebody else will replicate the experiment, and maybe you can confirm that I am, in fact, not pregnant.

I'll add, that my chart is completely confusing this cycle. And I'm not 100% sure that I ovulated when FF says I did, so I was kind of half hoping to catch an LH surge. But of course I'm taking progesterone, so who the heck knows!

Yea, I used to do this same thing and I stopped for this same reason. Besides evaps, I got a few of these fakeouts that seem like legit +s but it's just that stupid dye running over. You have to really keep them separate.

During the two and a half years that I was ttc for my son, I never once got an evap line. And, I have been doing this taking-both-tests-at-the-same-time-business for forever and never got any of this crap. So, there is a part of me that wants to think I am actually k/u. But then the BFN's quietly remind me that I'm just a little crazy.

This is all I can think of right now.

You need to invest in a FRER before you stop your progesterone IMO. I don't have any expirence with wondfos so I'm no help there. But the only way to tell if your line is real or not is to go get a FRER. Evaps on a FRER are Very rare. I've examined them 24 hrs outside of the time frame and they were stark white.

Do NOT buy Blue dye!!

Both look like evaps because the line isn't solid all the way across :-( I agree with KC in getting a FRER.

I'll pick up in FRER while I'm out today, but I got it BFN on my wondfo this morning. So I'm kind of feeling like I'm just out for the cycle.

this is just my history with them but i've peed on 18237561280 wondfos (fully aware i have a problem), and i've gotten 1 evap line, ever. and no evaps on FRERs. it's suspect though that your line doesn't span the width of the stick. when are you expecting AF? could you still be too early?

I'm 14dpo today, but I'm taking progesterone, so that's staving off af. I'm stopping taking it, so I'm not sure how long till af. Hopefully soon now that I'm out.

I got my period ON progesterone, it was like a double whammy. It should start pretty soon, depending on what type of progesterone you are on.

I'm taking the generic provera this time. When I took it with the RE, I was using the sups, but my insurance didn't cover them and they were $4/pill. So, I wanted to try the one my insurance is paying for this time around knowing I can move up if need be. I had to get a prog shot once to induce a period and they had told me it would be about a week to start my next cycle, but it was only about two days. So, hopefully, it'll be soon and I can just move on.

I learned that a couple years ago! Its such good knowledge to have. If they touch, even while developing they can produce a false + on the hpt. It sure can get your heart racing if you arent familiar with that!
