Please help me stop freaking out

DS2 (21 months old) has an ear infection and was prescribed 2.5 mL of amoxicillin 3x a day for a week this past Thursday. I left Saturday for a work trip and my mom has been with the boys this weekend during the day since stbxh sleeps during the day.

He just told me that, as he got up today, he saw her giving him the third dose of the day of 5 mL instead of 2.5 mL. She left shortly after and he assumes she's been giving him 5 mL the whole time for two days now. Is my kid going to be okay? Should he continue getting the medicine or should we stop since he's basically had 6 double doses now (I assume)? I am going to clarify with my mom tomorrow if she's really been giving him 5 mL or if she just doubled up because maybe she forgot a does or something but, until then, please tell me to chill the eff out because he'll be fine.

I think he will definitely be fine, but I would just put a call into the pedi to see what you should do from here

Usually the worst that will come from an "OD" of antibiotics is diarrhea. I would call the ped and have him or her guide you on how to finish the course. I'm thinking they will want to continue, since the length of course is pretty important.

Thank you everyone! I will call the pedi and see what they say. STBXH was thinking ahead and had been giving him some probiotics to help with his bowels. I appreciate you ladies calming me down. :-)
