I am pregnant for the first time, and only about 6 weeks along... Is it normal to have hunger pangs about every 2 hours on the dot? Not just an "I could eat" feeling. Is this normal? Or am I going to gain 100 lbs before this baby gets out!? :(

Re: Hungry all the time

  • I was like that in the beginnning...it eased up from about 10-13 weeks and now it's back. I never had any morning sickness and also never had any aversions so I felt like I was eating a lot!

  • Oh my gosh I'm about 6 weeks along too and am ravenous... I cannot stop eating, and it doesnt help that the rest of the time I'm sleeping! I am trying to keep some of my workouts, and am running still probably like 20 miles a week, but that's not much compared to my activity level before - I'm just so tired! Right there with you though - I was 104 before I got pregnant and over the last 3 weeks alone am up to 110! :(

  • I agree ladies ! From 6-8 weeks i was always starving and yet throwing up from being nauseous all the time !!! I gained a lot of weight then but now that I've hit 12 weeks the grease , fatty foods I once craved a few weeks ago I now turn my nose up too. I'm back to my healthy eating again!

I started getting those same awful hunger pangs about a week before my missed period. It was one of the things that made me wonder if I might be pregnant. I would eat and not long later feel like I hadn't eaten all day. I am about 7 weeks and the feeling has tapered off so that it is not so severe. But up until about 3 or 4 days ago, I was out of my mind hungry all the time. I felt like I wasn't just eating for two, but 6. Most women do report that the feel lessons. Just eat when your hungry, but be mindful. Obviously you don't want to gorge on french fries and candy bars. And keep a snack in your purse. I keep a ziplock of pretzels and a little container of peanut butter (much like those that Jell-O shots come in, lol) and it has saved me loads of times already. Good luck!!

  • Week 5&6 i felt llike a hungry hungry hippo. I literally ate and wanted everything in excess. I'm now at week 7 and I can barely keep down a meal without feeling a little nauseus. My hungry girl has left and I have to force myself to eat more.
  • For me, the never ending hunger was sporadic during weeks 3-5. In week 6 it was constant. Then in week 7 the nausea hit. I felt ill when I was hungry and ill when I had eaten too much. That has seemed to ease up over the past couple days. Now at 8w2d I am back to being mostly symptom free.

  • I'm at week 7 and the constant hunger started for me too.  I will even wake up around 3 am with hunger pains, so I started keeping bananas by my bed.  It has helped some.  Having a filling snack within arms reach is nice.

First bout of morning sickness was this AM.

  • I'm also constantly hungry and I didn't think that my nausea qualified as morning sickness because it feels like a tight, achy, you shouldn't have eaten that, kind of nausea. I don't puke and i don't have trouble with appetite (most of the time). Anyone else feel this?
  • I'm around 7 weeks and hungry all the time! :D

  • I am somewhere between 6-7 weeks and up until today was ravenous all the time, today have been nauseous for the whole day (only dry foods will work and I think greasy would too but I havent made anything yet)... prior to today nausea was just random and once or twice a day, now its bleh all day

  • Thanks guys! Sounds like my body may be storing up before the morning sickness hits and I can never eat again! Ha :) Hopefully everyone starts to feel great soon! :)
  • 5 weeks and starving! Not looking forward to the nausea this time around... last time it was so bad I lost weight!
