Anyone know about removing glass splinters?

edited March 2014 in February 2013 Moms
Not from LO's skin, thank goodness, but from my own. I broke one of my Beatles glasses ( :(( ) and in cleaning that up, managed to get a thin splinter of glass about .5 inch long lodged into the tip of my right index finger. Other than making sure it doesn't get infected, does anyone have any tips for getting it out? It is too tiny for tweezers, and is so deep under the skin that I can no longer see it. Should I just wait it out?

Feelin' like a genius right about now…

  • I'd try DC's suggestion. The last glass splinter I had was in my foot and it went so deep, the surface started to heal over before it came out-probably because it was on my foot and I kept walking on it. I had to have the Dr cut it out. But mine was a pretty decent chunk of porcelain from a Correl plate that I threw across the room in anger.

    Bad. Idea.

I'm still cleaning up chunks of porcelain six months later.

  • Loading the player...
  • I tried hydrogen peroxide, but I guess the little puncture isn't big enough because I got no reaction at all. I'm just going to keep it clean and see what happens... It's so tiny, I imagine it's already broken into a million pieces inside my finger by now :-S

    Thanks, guys.
