October 2012 Moms

Vacation suggestions please

For my 30th bday in October we are going to take a long weekend trip no kids. First time ever doing this without kids! Anyway I want to stay in the Midwest area since it is just a long weekend 4 days maybe 5. Any suggestions? I want to be able to go out have drinks not go crazy party at night and then do fun exploring or something during the day.

well I am in kc so you can visit my town. There is plenty to do here. We have sports. Royals and sporting kc and nascar if that is your thing. Two large water parks and world's of fun. We have a great entertainment district with the power and light. Good museums with the world war one museum and Nelson Atkins art museum. And I am here too.

Hey I just met you, and you're my baby. This is your family, we're kind of crazy...Lilypie Kids Birthday tickersLilypie - (tl9S)Lilypie - (zrx8)imageimageimage

  • Honestly the only thing I really don't like about our city is the lack of public transportation. I think if we invested in that we could become a "real" city

Even St. Louis has some fun historical stuff going for it.  And Six Flags.  The Arch is pretty cool to go up in, too. :)

  • I live in KC as well. @navy&violet covered the sites. I haven't been there, but Chateau Avalon is a romantic hotel to stay at -- and it's by a lot of shopping, dining and sports. DH and I may do a baby-free night there soon.

Getting out of KC, DH and I baby mooned in Eureka Springs, Ark. Easy drive, lots of great restaurants, site seeing. I really enjoyed it.

    Enjoy your trip!

  • I think you should go to KC and stop at all the cheesy Route 66 tourist spots along the way! Haven't you always wanted to see the world's largest rocking chair?? Before babies, dh and I spent two weeks driving out west via rt 66 and it was so much fun!

We did a tour de kansas when dh and i were in our grad schools. And amongst other things we got to see the largest ball of twine. It was a fun weekend.
