Sleep regression

My DD is 5m old today and from about 3 1/2m she'll only sleep for 3-4hrs at a time during the night. From about 8wks on I would feed her between 11pm/12am, she would sleep until 7/8am, I would feed her again, she would go back to sleep until about 1/2pm and be up off and on for the rest of the day. Then in first week in February, it all changed. First she went down to 5 or 6hrs straight, then 4 or 5, and now it's 3 to 4. I haven't changed her routine or sleeping habits/place at all. How can I fix this? She's EBF and won't take a paci or bottle. We haven't started solids yet.

Re: Sleep regression

  • could be late for month sleep regression. I ebf too but have just started solids since A is 6&1/2 months, but that hasn't helped her sttn, if anything she has become worse. She also doesn't take a paci regularly.
I put sleep or lack there of down to baby being a baby...their sleep patterns evolve a lot over the first couple of years. I'm not into sleep training either. Yet! ;)

  • I had the same experience. DS started sleeping worse in mid January and it just kept getting worse and worse, which contributed to our decision to begin sleep training about a week ago. It seems like, from what I've read, some babies sort it out on their own and some will need help eventually. Even though there are still some rough nights, DS sleeps bettered night now than he did before the sleep training and his naps have improved as well. Just decide what works for you and, as everyone always says with babies and children, it's all a phase :)

  • @MangoMama82‌ well, not anymore but she was. She started that routine on her own so I just thanked God and went with it.

@wedding06 I've tried putting her to bed earlier but she still wakes up 3 to 4hrs later no matter what her bed time is.
  • We are going through the same thing.  He is waking every hour to an hour and a half.
  • I was waking 16 times a night. The only thing that solved out problem was swaddling her.

  • I should add that she sleeps in a bouncer in our room so she can't roll over.

DD also kept growing worse as far as bedtime habits from about 3.5 mo on. We started no-cry sleep training (basically just putting her down drowsy instead of fully asleep) almost a month ago, and it has helped a lot. She still sometimes has nights she struggles to fall asleep, but we got some improvement in bedtime and night wakings almost right away.

  • Glad I'm not the only one! Since 3.5 months his sleep habits went to shit. I'm hoping one of these days he goes back to STTN!

  • My LO slept great from abou 3-5 months then things changed! He was up about 3 times a night wanting to eat, or sometime just wanting to play. His most recent thing is he started rolling in the night and that would wake him up. He will be 6 months Wednesday and just the past couple of nights it has been better...so hoping it lasts and gets back to normal soon!
