Probiotics?

Does anyone give lo a probiotic supplement? The pedi gave us a sample a couple months ago that I didn't end up trying until recently. I liked it. I think it helped DD be a bit more regular. She was never the worst, but you could tell she was getting bloaty/gassy and then there would be a poo-splosion every few days. There was none of that with the probiotic. I'm considering continuing it, but it's kind of pricy and they don't carry it everywhere. Before I go out of my way to get more, I wondered if there are any other positive (or negative) stories in case maybe the benefits of the sample were in my head.

  • I can't say enough good things about probiotics. The first 2 months of my sons life he would wake up in the wee hours and just start screaming. It would happen in the middle of the day sometimes, too. He was clearly in pain. I was "that mom" calling the pedi every week in a panic. Part of it was reflux. Poor guy. The pedi put him on probiotics before the Zantac, just to see if it might help. Kind of a 1-2 punch. We started the probiotics and after a couple of weeks the MOTN scream fests went away. We could tell that before he was backed up and had painful gas. We used to massage his belly to try to help. He's been taking the Bio Gaia/Gerber probiotic drops since December and he has never had those symptoms again. They're pricey for sure, and since he's 5 months now this will probably be my last bottle. Those issues should work themselves out around 6 months. If he seems uncomfortable I'll get more. Worth it in my book

  • Rebecca is on her 2nd bottle of bio Gaia.. She use to get it everyday but now maybe once a week. Her gas doesn't seem to be bad anymore. It costs $30 a bottle here. It helped her a lot when she was cry from gas daily when she was younger. She started using the drops around January.

  • We used the gerber soothe drops for a couple of months and not sure if they made a difference...maybe we will try them again but they are so freaking expensive
