Allergy meds

Has anyone's doctor told them which allergy medicines (benadryl, claratin, allegra, zyrtec, with or without decongestant) are safe to take right now? I'm going to call my doctor on Monday to see what they say, but I'm seeing a lot of contradictory/extra-cautious advice from different websites. My tree pollen allergies are kicking me in the face today - happy 3rd day of spring!

  • My doctor told me Sudafed and Benedryl were fine.

  • My dr told me Zyrtec and Benadryl. I am not sure about decongestants.

  • My doctor said Claritin and the less-good Sudafed (there are two varieties with different active ingredients; at least in Michigan, the not-okay one is behind the pharmacy counter).

  • I took a Benadryl for 2 nights with my doctor's okay when we were visiting my parents out of state. I can tolerate my allergies during the day, but at nights I would have trouble breathing in a relaxed state and falling asleep. I was around 8 weeks at the time.

  • my midwife said benadryl used in moderation (i.e. not every day) and claritin were both ok.

  • My OB said Zyrtec (did not ask about d because I don't take it) and singulair are fine to take. That's my normal regimen, so those are the specific 2 I asked about.
  • My OB said Benadryl, Zyrtec, and Claritin are fine. She also said if it gets really bad, she'll write me a prescription for flonase but I want to avoid that since it's class c. Mine have been terrible so I just picked up some claritin today. In the past, I never had much luck with Zyrtec or Claritin and always took Allegra...so I'm hoping it'll work this time around!

The DoD has approved Claritin, Benadryl, and Zyrtec so I take Zyrtec whenever I'm around animals. Haven't asked about the D.

Side note: Every time someone mentions the decongestant ones, I giggle like a 13 year old. "Doc had to take my blood pressure before I took the D," "didn't ask about the D because I don't take it." I'm sorry, I know these are totally legit and I know what you mean, but it still makes me laugh.

I'm taking zyrtec(regular) daily now. I tried to hold off as long as possible, but my doc is more than okay with it and pollen is already leaving a yellow tinge to everything.
