Breastfeeding

Period

AF has not returned for me at almost 7 months and I kind of want it to, for some reason I have it in my head that it will make feel more " normal", like my old self. Those of you that have it back, did it make you feel better overall of is this just in my head?

Re: Period

  • Funny, I just posted something asking when other people got theirs back.  I am almost 4 months and just got it yesterday and I am so upset by it! I Was looking forward to not getting it and was hoping that would be one of the nice side effects from BF.  I'd say enjoy this time...

oh man, enjoy it while it lasts! i was 12 months PP before i got my period back, and i relished every moment of it. ;)

edit: i know what you mean, though-- i didn't really start to feel "normal"/like my old self until i was about 9+ months (or more) PP. so i think it's more a factor of time and giving your body a chance to spring back than of actually getting your period.

  • My postpartum periods are terrible. Tons of blood, lots of cramping. I definitely don't feel better.

  • Mine came back about 7-8mo PP with DS1. It didn't make me feel more normal at all.

I know this might be an UO on this board, but I have a love/hate relationship with breastfeeding. While I love nursing & I will do everything in my power to make it to my 1 yr goal again with no formula, I also hate doing it. It wasn't until after I was done nursing that I felt "normal" again. That lasted a whole 2 months since I was PG again 2 mo after DS1 completely weaned himself at about 13-14 mo.

  • I have the same love/hate feelings about breastfeeding! 5 more months!
  • I got AF when my first was 15.5 months, no difference in terms of how I felt, just crampy :(  Still nothing with DS and I'm hoping AF stays away for awhile yet.  As pp said enjoy it!
  • Totally hate that mind came back! I EBF so wasn't planning on seeing aunt flow for a while but she surprised me at 3 months
  • Lol! Mine came back at 6 weeks pp with my daughter and 7 weeks pp with my son despite EBFing both kids. It definitely did not make me feel more normal; just made me feel unlucky.

  • Mine came back at 6 months PP and it made me feel worse. I was ypset about it because it was reminder of how fast my DD is growing. I guess I don't want to be completely back to normal (although I don't think you ever are with a kid)!

  • I haven't had my PPP but I would like it to return for two reasons. My body feels more normal during my cycles, and we are TFAS right now. DS is 14 months.

I've had some EWCM this week and increased libido, so I may be ovulating due to night weaning. We shall see, but I totally understand where you are coming from!

  • Mine came back just shy of 3 months on valentines day no less... I am torn on it, it has made charting NFP easier, although only 2 cycles in they aren't regulated yet. But I wasn't quite ready for the hassle yet. I had noticed my fertile cycle before AF returned though so no surprise. It was more painful thought lots of cramps, heavy flow that lasted longer than before, but this month has started to seem more normal.
