Cloth Diapering

Quick intro and quick question...

Just thought I'd officially introduce myself :) I'm currently awaiting for baby #1 to arrive... 6 days overdue... Any time now would be nice! lol

We are expecting a baby boy and we can not wait!!

I've been lurking on this board for well over a year and I've been reading tons of CD blogs and checking out a bunch of YouTube vids too. I feel pretty prepared :) hopefully it all works out! Maybe once I get some experience under my belt I can actually offer my own advice haha

Now, onto my questions... Wasn't there a FAQ at some point? I usually would browse that when I would forget about something.

Also, I've heard hemp is a great addition to pockets if absorbency is an issue (we're going to try BG 4.0 first). I've seen a Joey brand and a Joey premium... ?What's the difference? Is the premium worth the extra money?

Thanks!!

Re: Quick intro and quick question...

  • The FAQs were unstickied because they needed tone redone, I think?

The hemp I think you are referring to is the baby kicks joeybunz.
The regular joeybunz is 6 layers of hemp/cotton jersey. The premium is 4 layers of hemp/cotton fleece.

Personally I love the premium because it is really two pieces attached at one end, so it dries way faster than my other hemp inserts. My premiums dry in the same time as my prefolds, while the 6 layer jersey ones take more than another dryer cycle to dry.

Dumb question... So if it's 2 pieces, is it 8 layers total? Or 2&2 to make it 4 layers total. I'm assuming the premium is designed to be more absorbent?

4 total. I think the jersey absorbs faster, and the fleece absorbs more? I might have that backwards though.

  • I have a preference for fleece over jersey. Fleece IMO absorbs faster and holds more.
