Easter baskets.

What do you put inside them? Do they reuse the same basket every year or get a new one? Do you hide them or leave them in plain view?

Re: Easter baskets.

  • Same one since she was born. It's on the small side, so we fill basket with edibles, then usually other stuff beside it. We leave it in plain view on the couch. We do a community egg hunt the Saturday before.

  • Mostly books and small toys, and some treats. Starting this year is when my kids will have the same baskets each year; I finally caved and got the PBK ones because I was never able to find baskets like I pictured after trying the last few years.

  • Different baskets. This year it is a felt board (that I am making for her), barrettes, finger paints, slinky, a squishy toy, a couple books.

  • One piece of candy for each child in the basket plus small books and small toys. We get new baskets every year. The baskets are in plain sight but they have to find their Easter eggs,

  • Same baskets, though I have to get one for DD2. Just candy, books, maybe some art stuff. Nothing big at all

  • Same baskets and we hide them. We put in books, swim suits, pajamas, chalk, bubbles, sticker books, usually a new DVD, art supplied , and minimal candy.
  • I would like to use the same basket, but other people keep buying him baskets. I get irritated with holiday excess in general, so it bugs me when my ILs buy DS1 a new basket and shitton of crap every year. They actually got him 2 baskets for his first Easter. Plus random other relatives have bought him baskets too. I know, bragplaint, first world problem, but consumerism is one of my "issues".

  • We use the same one every year. I don't hide them, but probably will when the kids get older. My mom started doing a scavenger hunt for our baskets once we outgrew egg hunts and it was a lot of fun. What I put in them really depends. This year the kids are getting big M&D sticker books, a book, bubbles, and a small chocolate bunny. That is all I have gotten so far. Last year they got pjs, Candy Land (DD), Mr Potato head (DS), JoJo the electronic easter egg hunt game (highly recommend it for those of you with small kids, my kids love that thing), a small chocolate bunny, and a few other small things.

  • Use the same ones every year. Candy is tough. Ds is allergic and dd is obsessed, so they get stuff. They are getting sunglasses, a stuffed animal, books, etc.
    O 10.08 & MJ 6.10
  • Same basket. Out in plain view. They come from us. In the past, a Spring outfit or bathing suit, plus so,e candy and little junk.
  • We somehow have 8 baskets. I just let the kids pick one and put out for the bunny. I have never really paid attention to which ones they pick, but I don't think they are the same each year. The bunny hides their baskets. I usually do outdoor/spring toys, clothes, bathing suits,  books, and candy. If they have been asking for a certain toy, I usually put that in.
  • We haven't done a basket yet because I haven't found one i like. Last year DD got a water table so it wouldn't have fit in anyway. We will most likely get her one biggish thing and candy for most Easters because her birthday and Christmas are only 2 weeks apart. So it's an excuse to get her a spring/summery gift.

  • Same basket.  We usually do some jelly beans, maybe a few chocolate eggs, a movie for both of them to share, and a toy (usually something for outside).

ILs give them chocolate bunny, which I usually end up eating.  My parents usually give them a toy and a book.

  • we have a really nice basket we use every year.  probably will buy some stuff from the dollar store and call it good.

  • I usually buy new dollar store baskets every year, but last year's are kicking around in the living room because DS decided they were fun toys, so I only need to buy a couple for the twins. I don't go nuts with stuff in them - usually goldfish and a few other snacks, a couple of cheap books, maybe a pair of pajamas - but I have always hand-painted a blown-out eggshell for DH for Easter and now I do one for DS too. I guess this year I'm going to have to do four of them, yikes.

  • Different baskets. DD LOVES baskets. To the point that every time we are in Target she finds a small "basket" in the dollar section to carry around with her while I carry a regular basket. Needless to say she uses her baskets throughout the year for everything, and by the end of the year they are showing the wear/damage etc.

DH does the basket thing--he finds her basket and fills it for her. I am removed from the whole Easter basket/Easter bunny thing.

  • New baskets, usually more bucket like and we use them for the year. They take then to the pool or for playing outside or just for carrying stuff around.

We do a couple candies and some little gifts. I'm not sure what I'm putting in this year.

The baskets are out in the open and the eggs are hidden.

Same basket. I usually put a couple books, outside toys(chalk, jump rope, bubbles), a snack/candy, and a few eggs with small candy or toys in them.  They are sitting on the table when they wake up.

I haven't done candy in the past but this year I got some little Lindt chocolate bunnies for him. I usually do bubbles, playdoh, crayons, stickers, books, and whatever little things I find at Target or World Market. We reuse the same basket and leave it in plain view.

  • They get the same basket every year, and we hide them. DH grew up w eggs being hidden, too, so we do that as well. They get jelly beans and a little candy, and one or two small gifts.
