CD mommas, I need opinions

I made some more diapers but changed the length of elastic used in the legs because I didn't feel the pattern's suggestion length have a good fit in the legs which obviously shortened the diaper up a bit. Sorry the pics are blurry (kid won't sit still) but here is my 15 month old, guessing 25 lbs maybe more, in one. Should I make them maybe another inch or so higher in the front? I don't know how much longer these would fit him as they are on the highest rise. They are OS diapers. The legs fit much better now. And yes he has already destroyed the house for the morning.

Can you use button hole elastic and put it in channels so it's adjustable? That way you could let it out as you need more height.

  • Yes. It has rise snaps but I need the tallest rise now. I think I might try one or two a little taller. I'm not sure I'm talented enough for button hole elastic!

  • I'd say experiment and see what you think. I have adjusted the length of diapers before with no trouble. Just add a little at the crotch and see what you think. I will say that this is one of  the reasons I prefer to make sized diapers instead of one size. They just fit so much better!

@pistolpackinmomma‌ If you're just looking for more of a rise in the front center, can you slash and spread the pattern to get the desired shape? Difficult to explain, but I can try to draw it out for you when I'm not mobile.

  • I think the rise is fine now but just worry about down the line it being too short. Following the pattern I had to snap down a rise and it was too short then, I felt. I'm not sure what you're talking about but I'm all ears!

  • Yeah, it will definitely be too short in the near future if that's the highest rise setting.

  • I have not advice since I'm using a sized pattern and haven't actually completed an entire CD yet, but do you have another pattern you can compare it to? I forget which one you are using, but maybe there is something that would have a longer OS life for you??

  • I think we figured out a way to do it. I'm going to try to add an inch in the front, leave my bottom row of waist snaps the same, move the top row up a half an inch and have the extra half an inch above the snaps then add a half an inch to the back to allow for the extra spacing on my wing snaps.
