Just curious...how long did you make it before your kids were too big or messed with each other too much? Mine are 8 months, and I wonder how much longer we'll make it. Nursing one at a time plus feeding solids = total life domination.
Mine are close to 9m and we still tandem. I give them each a burp rag to hold onto while they nurse and that helps. I wear a necklace, so one will fiddle with that usually. Or I'll hold one's hand so he doesn't rip out his brother's hair.
They are efficient these days - we're usually done in 10-15 min.
But I agree, once you add in meal times, it's quite the time suck.
I only got a couple of months of tandem feeding - for the first five or so months they were too small and floppy and I need hands to support boobs in addition to baby heads, and then at like seven months they started getting mobile enough for it not to work. So we're back to one at a time, but they honestly don't nurse much at nine months (maybe 4-5x a day, each?) so it isn't as big of a time suck as it used to be.
