Bottle warmer recommendations

I've just been submerging my bottles in hot water to warm them , but this is taking a long time. Can Anybody recommend a good bottle warmer? Not sure if this makes a difference, but I am warming expressed breastmilk and I use the Dr. Brown's bottles.

With my first I LOVED the First years night and day bottle warmer. That was great almost 10 years ago! Best thing is you can still buy it or a newer version with the "gumdrop" branding. Still by the first years though! I now have the gumdrop one and it's equally as great as the original. I love it and it works so quickly.

  • I have the First Years bottle warmer and it's really easy to use but I get very inconsistent temperatures. sometimes the bottle is still cold, other times it's perfect, and a few times it's been way too hot. not sure if it's just the one I have though

I have a dumb question. With these do you pre make the bottle and leave it in the warmer until you need it or do they just rapid heat the bottle?

We have a brita and I just run warm water through it and make each bottle as I need but it would be nice to just grab and go sometimes

  • We have an advent one. Works great and has 3 settings. The hottest heats it FAST but you have to be careful not to leave it in too long or it's too hot. The lower temps are more forgiving.

What's the advantage of having a bottle warmer vs just warming up a cup of water in the microwave and sticking the bottle in the cup to warm?  Is it really that much faster?

ETA - I don't stick the actual bottle in the microwave.  I realized my wording might have made it seem that way.

@Rach521‌ I have the same one, and mine is like that too. It's fast and easy, but inconsistent.

  • We used to use the first years night and day and it was good. I use my keurig to run hot water now since we only make a few bottles per day. If it becomes more, I may get a new one but for now this works for us. @djtippietoes‌ - it is faster, particularly at night, we used to keep the bottle in the built in cooler part and when he woke up, dropped it in the warmer and then changed his diaper. By the time we finished, it was ready. We did all this with the lights dimmed so he never fully woke up and it made nights so much easier.

I use the Dr. Browns warmer and like it. Its a digital timer basically and keeps the time in its memory which is nice when you figure out what works. It shuts off automatically at the end too.

Exactly why I love the night and day warmer! The cooler was really nice to have and I kept the Warmer in our room. No need to go to the kitchen in the middle of the night!

    this sounds pretty amazing
  • We just use hot water. (From the tap). If you're warming it up quite a bit, I can see how it would take awhile. We usually run it under hot water for a bit (to melt off the thick stuff stuck to the sides), then put it in a glass. We don't warm it a lot, though--just knock the chill off.

Am I the only one around here who gives cold bottles? I'm starting to feel bad for my LO but he doesn't seem to care!

I discovered he'd drink them cold after forgetting to heat one up in the middle of the night.

We don't do straight from the fridge cold but I try for room temp. I don't want LO to develop a preference for warm b/c it's such a pita on the go.

  • I keep a small crockpot with water in it on low. I throw the bottle in for a few minutes, and we're all good. R is pretty impatient, so her bottles are rarely ever warm, warm. Honestly, I think she would take them cold, but I feel bad and try to get them warm for her.

This. Our crockpot came with a miniature version, the little dip warmer or something like that. It's the perfect size for warming a bottle or thawing a bag of frozen milk.

We give straight from the fridge cold. We honestly just never thought about it, and when we finally did we realized she didn't mind the cold bottles.
We've done it. Apparently my kid does not care what temp his milk is at. Warm, room temp, straight from the fridge... He acts the same for them all. We try to do room temp though.

we warm ours to room temp but DD won't take them cold. I tried once and she freaked out :(

I've never done it straight up from the fridge but I've done it fairly cold and he doesn't seem to mind.

I've never done it straight up from the fridge but I've done it fairly cold and he doesn't seem to mind.

I warm my breast milk because  (1) breast milk separates into components when cold causing the fat to rise to the top and it may be best to warm it so that it homogenizes and (2) feeding LO cold breast milk while the breast milk from my breast is body temperature may lead to further breast feeding issues. If you are formula feeding neither of these reasons apply

Some people claim that cold formula and/or breast milk can upset a LOs tummy and cause gas. Others say that this is not the case. My pediatrician said that it hasn't been proven either way, but that the current thinking is that cold milk/formula does not upset LO's tummy.

Same here, works great! I learned to be careful of the 3rd setting too!

That's true. I never thought about not needing to go to the kitchen!
  • I just feed room temp and LO is fine with it. :)
  • We have the Born Free warmer/cooler and we are very happy with it.  It is SO nice not to have to go down to the kitchen for each MOTN feed and we've found it to be really consistent as far as temperatures go.  Is it a must have? No - but it definitely makes our lives much, much easier!
