toddler bed/no naps! (charmedgrl517)

The past 2 days, DD refuses to nap and now today is trying to climb out of her crib. Tonight she cried when i laid her down for bed and almost got out of her crib. At what age did your toddler stop napping and start sleeping in a toddler bed? I feel like 19 months is early but I don't want her falling out of her crib. Thanks!

  • DD is still in her crib and her pediatrician recommended keeping her in a crib as long as we can - most of what I've read suggests transitioning them sometime in their second year. While I'm sure some littles might be ready to move sooner, maybe something else is going on?

At DD'S 18 month check up, our pediatrician recommended the same thing and I totally agree. I'm not ready to make her crib a toddler bed lol but I also don't want her hurting herself trying to climb out. This just started yesterday so I'm not sure if it's something she will just stop doing or continue and we will have to transition her.

  • We didn't switch DS til he was three. He never tried to climb out and our pediatrician said he could stay in the crib until he outgrew it. And he still takes a three hour nap every day, at 3 1/2. All kids are different though. A friends daughter stopped napping at 18 months and that was it.

  • We just switched DS1 a little less than 2 months ago....but he was really climbing out like a monkey. He came to join us in bed in the wee morning hours. We also tried the mattress on the floor thing & he still got out. So he was about 27 months, but I had no choice since he could get out. Now nap time and bed time is so much fun.
