I made DH feel really guilty for going out two nights this week to watch the basketball games. He cleaned up dinner both nights and will wake up with the baby this weekend. But I really didn't care that he went. After the baby was asleep I was so happy to watch Teen Mom 2, Greys and Reign in peace with a glass of wine.

This made me think of another: last night dh fell asleep on the couch and I woke him up an told him to go to bed because he would be more comfortable. In reality, he was snoring and interrupting RuPaul's Drag Race. That was not acceptable. Sashay away dh...
I promised DH I would have Divergent read in time to see the movie this weekend. As of Tuesday, I hadn't even cracked it open. I read it all on Wednesday. In the morning, at work, at home. I couldn't put it down. I'm halfway through Insurgent and had to leave it home to actually get other things done.
1. I finally stopped tracking LO's sleep and diapers on my TotalBaby app...yesterday. No more!
2. I don't understand the value of baby food in a pouch.
3. I want LO to walk early strictly for bragging rights - I don't actually want to deal with an early walker.
Boring.
This was my confession too. I'm not judging those who use them, but they just creep me out and I could never get past feeding my LO something from a bag where I could not see the actual food that is in there. Then there was that recall recently.....*shudders*

I use pouches but I always squeeze them into a bowl first and feed by spoon. It just seems like most of the brands I buy do pouches exclusively.

The meat one do gross me out and R won't touch them. We do like the regular Go Fruit/Buddy fruit ones that you can find in the regular applesauce and produce isles. Just a great option when we're on the run. We also have some of our own ones that we fill. Those are great because we can add the oatmeal right in so he has the iron. R loves being able to hold the bag and suck on it.

I think the directions on many of the pouches say to pour it in a bowl. I didn't think you were actually supposed to give it to the child straight out of the pouch? That would be weird. I give E pouches pretty much exclusively because they have better flavors for some reason. I don't know why the good kinds don't come in a jar.
Ok, pouring into a bowl makes sense. Honestly the only time I have seen someone actually use the pouches they had their kid suck the food out. So I guess that was my impression on how they were to be used.
The other night DH and were laying in bed....and I was having an allergic reaction to something and my eyes were tearing and my nose was running. DH thought I was crying and got really concerned. He doesn't often pay attention to my emotions, so instead of telling him I just had the sniffles...I decided to go along with it and told him I was really upset about some stuff we have had talks about in the past, I figured I would just capitalize on the fake tears.
we do pouches...Lo never sucks them out though. He is starting to use a spoon himself and I help him eat out of a bowl. The pouches I buy are organic and have a nice mix of fruits and veggies...I would not go as far to argue that they are healthier/better than homemade pureed fruits and veggies but for a working mom they are convenient and I do feel good about feeding him them.

There are meat ones?! I had no idea.
I've only seen them eaten straight out of the pouch, and I really have no problem with that. I just think that the snacks I prepare for LO are healthier and more "real." Like when in LO's future life will she ever suck a meal out of a bag? We did BLW, no babyfood, so I may be biased.
O sucks straight out of the pouches...judge away. He will not be fed by a spoon, he swats at it every attempt. I'm just happy he's back to eating well.
He's day to day with 'real' food, sometimes he gets it, other times he gags and can't swallow it. As long as my little guy is getting good nutrition, I don't really care.
Regarding recalls - there were 56 recalls on fresh fruits and vegetables in a 12 month period in 2012.
William has been sucking down those pouches for three months now. We did get two awful pouches from Happy Baby and I wrote into the company. I always squeeze a little out and taste it, but when we are on the go or I just want to be able to eat my dinner warm then the pouch is a great option. And if you are buying organic, then a majority of your options are pouches. So unless you want to limit yourself to the small selection of Earth's Best jars (my grocery store carries like 4 different ones) then you have to go with the pouches. At least where I shop.

Damn it! I was supposed to and didn't finish it. I am 1/4 through and seeing it tonight. Now I wish I would have read it!
We're on table food now, and until about 8 1/2 months I made all g's food. But there was a window when I said "fuck it" and she was still eating purees. I loved the pouches. As in I would save a little of the mango for myself. And yes, I sucked it right out of the bag.
Last week I had a rough day at work and didn't feel like making room in the freezer for the extra puréed pear/ banana mixture I made so I threw it in a blender with ice, non fat yogurt and Bicardi and called it lunch.

M will only eat purées if she can hold on to the pouch and suck it out herself. And she loves the pouches, so I'm not going to stop giving them to her just because she won't eat them off a spoon anymore. She gets a pouch along with whatever we are eating for dinner.

The thread titles often make me sing in my head... for example the "about to lose my mind" thread makes me sing "I'm about to lose my mind, up in here, up in here"
I'm not a neat freak...at all. My H and I have a tendency to leave our clothes on the bathroom floor. Yesterday after I put dd to bed I grabbed the clothes to put them in the wash. I found one of DD's diapers wrapped up under the clothes. I undress her for her bath in the bathroom and I apparently forgot to put it in the diaper genie. I'm pretty sure it was under those clothes for 2 days. I'm so gross (it was just pee though, I swear!)
Also, I've been taking full advantage of the fact that DD still nurses every 2 hrs, 24/7. I eat like a pig and I have no shame. If it weren't for her, I seriously would be submitting my application to TLC's "My 600lb Life."
1st- I haven't been on here even to lurk in about a week let alone post anything. In my defense I haven't been near a computer in that time since I have been dealing with family illness.
2. H has been getting after me about my lack of drive to do housework.( I haven't been feeling well myself in a long time and I have long stretches were I could seriously look at you, have a conversation and just about fall asleep in the middle of my own sentence.) So the other day I finally got up the energy to put away all of H's laundry. Mine however is still in the laundry basket hiding in the back of my closet.

We had bad luck with Happy Baby, too! Bleh - I dislike that brand.

My FFFC is that I am feeling a little smug after scaring the crap out of a group of teens today. I took the boys to the park with my mom since we were having a rare sunny, not-in-the-minus-temperatures day. There was a group of 13/14 year olds horsing around, so we went to the part of the park meant for little kids. Less than 2 minutes later, the teens came over and started running around on the jungle gym, pushing and shoving. One boy threw a frozen pine cone at another kid who was running past my twin's stroller and nearly hit them! I roared a the boy in a voice I usually reserve for handling my mother's stallion when he has a moment of stupidity. The boy actually paled. The whole group stared at me for a second, then jumped off the jungle gym and left the kiddie area. Another mom in the kiddie area gave me a thumbs up. It's nice to know I can still give a good bitch-face.
I just used my "teacher voice" on my husband and it totally worked! He normally calls me on it but I think he knew he was in the wrong so he didn't say anything and I'm feeling a little too good about it working.
I lie about how active I am to my Mum because if I told her I did more than the 10000 steps a day she would do 20000 a day and I can't be having her lose weight faster than me

We also did BLW.
When are they ever going to suck milk out of a boob again? I hope never, but I'm still breastfeeding.
I would be lost without the pouches right now. He's anti spoon recently, and more interested in feeding the dog his table food than himself. But he'll eat straight from a pouch 50% of the time.
