Constant Braxton Hicks

Hi ladies, I'll preface this with I haven't posted much and I don't really know all your fun acronyms :)

I'm 37 weeks and everything has been normal so far (I did just find out I'm group b strep positive but that's been the only wrinkle so far).

I've had Braxton hicks for months now but this AM I started having them almost nonstop. Lying down, standing up, doesn't matter. I'm drinking a TON of water so I'm not dehydrated...

Has anyone else experienced this?

  • Call. Your. Doctor. We don't know any more than you do.
  • If I move I have BH's. If they are concerning you then a call to your doctor wouldn't hurt.

    Since week 16

  • Yup. Totally getting a ton of them.

  • Yeah, since about week 22. Sometimes they space out to about 8-10 mins apart. Sometimes 2-3 mins apart.
  • I get them all the time now (37 weeks), like constantly. They don't hurt at all, just uncomfortably tight and very annoying. When this happens I start guzzling my water (and take a warm bath if it's in the evening) and they settle down after an hour. :)

But I don't know what's normal for you so best ask your doctor :)

  • Right, I understand these are supposed to happen more frequently now. But man, these are like every few mins...
  • Sounds like you might be pregnant. Try peeing on things.

  • Braxton Hicks are a really good thing, specifically this late in the game! They're getting you ready for the real deal. If you're concerned call your doctor.
  • Right now in fact. Every two minutes :(

Definitely talk to your health care provider if you're worried, but mine said that so long as they don't feel differently than normal and aren't getting more intense, there's nothing to worry about.

  • I been having BH since week 20...

If you are concerned call your doctor.

  • Yes, I've been having them for a long time too. Less concerned, more curious. Thanks all!
  • When you have constant BH they call it "irritable uterus" it's pretty common and super annoying.

  • Mine have increased in frequency in the last few days also. Part of me keeps thinking "maybe I'm going into labor" but there's no way for me to tell so I try not to think about it. I just keep doing what I'm doing and remind myself that if I do go into labor it will become obvious at some point. Nothing obvious so far, just lots of increasing uncomfortable BH.
  • I get them almost constantly.  Even the ultrasound tech commented the other day on just how tight my belly was... I was like, Look lady, this is my life 24/7.  And it hurts.  Stop trying to jiggle the baby by pressing my stomach, before I throat punch you.
  • My belly looks cuter when I have them and they don't hurt me, so i tend to enjoy my BH. Noticing them more and more.
