1st Trimester

2nd time moms- handling the 1st tri fatigue!

Seriously- how are you handling it?  Coupled with the nauseau, I feel like I have mono or something.  The fatigue and exhaustion is horrible.  I am not a SAHM, but I am home with her now.  I cannot get a thing in the house done and it takes all my might to just interact with her.  I really hope it gets better in the 2nd tri!

Re: 2nd time moms- handling the 1st tri fatigue!

  • For me, it's honestly a fine line between knowing I'm tired from being pg or if it's just my normal everyday self, lol.

DS has yet to STTN so I'm constantly up throughout the night to begin with. Add that in with being pg again and I'm tired ALL the time. LOL.

I am a SAHM so I try to nap when he does but then I can't get anything done =/

  • I'm not nauseous (yet) but it's a good thing I'm unemployed right now b/c I'm totally tired. I can't get up before 10am and I need a nap in the afternoon. On Friday we went to Disney and I could barely drag my feet after a few hours, it was horrible. I'm more or less fit and I never get tired like that, but now, wow, I can definitely feel something's different.

  • Honestly, I am in bed not long after DD. Luckily we are on vacation now but those first few weeks were awful. I don't have any nausea yet thank goodness.
  • Oh sorry, didn't see that this question is for 2nd time moms. Ask me again in a couple of years, lol!

  • I feel exactly the same way!  I am constantly falling asleep on the couch, on the toilet, etc.  DH is always saying, "You weren't this tired the first time around.  What's wrong with you?"  Well, I'm not Wonderwoman.  We also didn't have a toddler the last time.  Plus, this go-round I am working nights so my sleep schedule is all effed up anyway.  Sheesh man.  Plus, it generally takes alot of energy to grow a human being.  I would love to see him try to last all day without a nap.  Sorry.  Didn't mean to turn your post into my vent-session.  But, I agree with you being so tired!
  • It isn't easy-DD has been sick for the last week, as has DH, so I am beat.  This time around, to manage the nausea, I am chewing lots of mint gum and eating peppermint tic tacs.  I get so frustrated with the exhaustion, but I just try to do little bits of things, so I don't get overwhelmed with the cleaning, bill paying, etc.  I use most of my energy with DD, so I am spent by 8 PM every night!
  • I'm wondering the same thing. Here I am @ almost 12 wks, still fighting the fatigue and m/s. I have 4 children at ages 11, 9, 7 and 5. I'm constantly fighting this battle! It is a challenge. Nothing is done in the home and christmas shopping, wrapping etc was a work in itself as well. This didn't happen to me at all w/ the 4 pregnancies. This is so much different! When will it end? I d/k.
  • I find if I don't go to bed between 8:30 and 9:30, I am screwed for the next day. DD is getting up still in the night which is completely wearing me out. DH has been home for the past few days which is totally helping but he goes back to work tomorrow so I'm on my own again. I haven't been cooking as much and the laundry is a mess- but I can only do so much. Hopefully we'll all start feeling better soon!

The one advantage we have over the first timers is that we KNOW this barfing/tired thing will pass. Keep up hope! :)?

  • I a so dead exhausted all the time!!!!  I am getting close to second tri so I am hoping I pop with energy like I did with DS!!!!

  • I can feel that!  I haven't started feeling sick yet, so I make sure I eat little healthy snacks through out the day.  I'm not sure how much it helps and how much my head just thinks it does and keeps me going, if that makes sense.  I don't know if that would work with the nausea, but during my first pregnancy it helped both.  I hope that helps.  Good luck, and you aren't alone, exhausted one!
  • I am dealing just fine for now, I think it would be much harder if DD was younger.

  • The only way I handle it is sleeping when my toddler naps.  I am a SAHM, so I'm lucky to have that option. You could do that on weekends, at least.  Otherwise my only advice for you would be going to bed really early, even if it means you have to give up a little personal time.  :-(
