Question about cramps

Hi ladies...I was hoping you could answer a question for me.  Did any of you have AF type cramps before you found out you were pregnant, even spotting, and seriously think AF was on her way?  I have heard people say they get cramps, but I don't know if they're the same intensity as when you get AF, or just light cramping or what.  (And I realize this can vary from person to person, I'm just trying to get a sense of what some of you have experienced.)

Thanks!

Re: Question about cramps

  • I had cramps - and I never get cramps. ?Not even pre-bcp, But I thought it was just my body screwing with me cos I had just gotten off bcp.

  • I had cramps with both of my BFPs and this time I had spotting when AF was supposed to arrive.

  • Both times I thought my period was right around the corner.

  • I had very similar AF cramps... all the way through to 6 weeks actually...
  • I had cramps that I assumed were pre-AF cramps but to be honest that was not normal for me - I don't usually cramp pre-AF.  They were the same intensity though as my normal AF cramps.

  • I had cramps, but it was about a week after AF would have been due. ?One day of dark brown spotting due to implantation bleeding around AF being due. ?No spotting until week 6 of pregnancy and more cramps until about week 10ish.

  • I did last time -- I also had implantation spotting and wore a tampon for a day.  It would have been similar to the lightest day you have during AF.

this time I am not having any spotting - but having cramps/twinges but to be honest I am not sure it is my uterus or gas!

  • oh yes. i had af cramps for a few weeks after this bfp as well. they have gone away completely now, but i feel some weird things now and then, probably gas..lol..but no more cramps. i kinda knew i was pg again, because i was super tired and a little extra mean right before AF and i also was dry heaving again, which is what happened the first time around. However, with the first m/c, i had AF cramps the whole time and my m/s never developed like it should have...cramps should usually go away after a few weeks.

  • I had AF type cramps beflore my BFP, I thought I was out for the month for sure. The cramps have continued, the vary in intensity & coem & go sometimes I can't tell if its AF type cramps or bowels/gas pains. No spotting for me.

  • I had cramping for about a week before I found out I was pregnant. I really thought I was about to start a new cycle (since I was taking progesterone and clomid to help with my cycles/ovulation), and then, surprise! The cramping was my only symptom until I was about 6 1/2 weeks pregnant.
  • I did. No spotting so far *knocks on wood* but for about a week before I finally tested (thought for sure there was no chance this cycle) I felt like AF was coming in terms of I had slight, dull cramps that would come and go for awhile, much like I get before the "real" strong cramps come and AF is actually here. Does that make sense? That normally only lasts a couple days and then AF is here, but that didn't happen and it just kept going on.  I still have some occassionally so I am hoping that's a good sign.
  • Here's a post I made the morning I got my bfp (I tested that evening after work): link

  • I had some mild, PMSlike cramps a day or so before my BFP. They weren't my full-on period cramps, but kind of like the precursor cramps I usually get.?
  • I've been having cramping since 5 dpo.

  • I only get cramps the first and second day of AF. My BFP cycle I had spotting for a couple of days and then I started having mild cramps for a week after my BFP (at 14dpo). I still get mild discomfort once in a while or twinges, especially if I'm tired or walked too much. I read it's normal and it's your uterus stretching. As long as the cramps don't get too painful and you don't have spotting/bleeding, it should be OK. GL!

  • I had light to moderate AF cramps from week 4-6.  My doctor said it was normal as long as there was no bright red blood.  I still have slight twinges and light cramping on and off - usually if I forget to drink lots of water.
