I'm taking a day trip (4 hrs each way) to NYC for a convention with my bf and everyone thinks I'm crazy. some people are even mad at me for it ! I think I'll be perfectly fine but does anyone think it's a stupid idea?
I think the most important factor is making sure your insurance will cover you for out-of-state medical expenses if something does happen. I'm not really sure how insurance works in the US, but that might be something to consider.
I know that my (private travel) insurance won't cover me if I leave the country within 9 weeks of my due date, so leaving Canada is not an option for me now. (But I had 30 weeks to travel to the US/anywhere else and didn't, so I can't complain).
Depends on how you're feeling, I suppose. NYC typically entails a ton of walking, I know for me, walking and being on my feet all day at 35 weeks would not work for me, but everyone is different. I also wouldn't want to sit in the car for 4 hours each way, just my opinion. If you feel up to it then go for it...
I'm actually going to NYC for a day trip at 35 weeks, too. For me, it's only a little over an hour away, but my husband is driving me in so we can scoot out if we need to. (We're just going to see a show, and maybe get some food if I'm not too exhausted.) Probably a good idea to check with your insurance as PP said. I will probably do the same, although hopefully I'm close enough driving distance to my hospital that I'll be OK!

I went on a day trip last year when I wasn't pregnant and it was exhausting. We were on our own from noon until 8:30 when we met the bus. I have never been that tired. There wasn't really anywhere to sit down other than when we ate. I won't ever do it that way again. I'll only go if I have a hotel in the city where I can go to relax if I need to. I went in December so I'm sure it was extra crazy because of that.

I don't see why not. Maybe because i live in nyc and walk around all the time, but I say go for it. Know your limits and rest when you need to. What are you supposed to do stay in your house for the next five weeks?!?! Go, relax, and have a fun last trip with your husband before the baby comes!
I live in Brooklyn and it doesn't really phase me living here. I just know my limits on how much I can do. Some days I can walk 3 miles other days 1 mile. Enjoy your time here. Hopefully the weather will be nice
