So turns out I have inverted nipples. I never really thought about it until I'm reading all these books and my nipples don't look anything like the pictures. I did some research and they are definitely inverted. My one book says the baby's mouth should suck on the areola, not just the nipple so would it really matter? Can I breast feed? Will it really be that much more difficult? Will they pop out eventually? I'm getting discouraged already
Re: Inverted nipples
I needed to use a nipple shield for the first 5 months until she was able to latch on her own, but other than that I had no issues.
I bought my pump on the way home from the hospital. FWIW I bought a Medela Swing because it said it was good for flat nipples on the box... but I have no idea if it makes a difference
