My LO is still very gassy and uncomfortable, and has not poop now for 6 days. I was dealing with oversupply. But now i think its under control. LO has been feeding longer, when I did pump which is not often after a missed feed, i went a full 10 minutes and got 2.5oz of breastmilk. I only pumped one side and the last time i double pumped i got 4 oz combined. My letdowns dont seem as heavy as before, he doesnt choke splutter st the breast, seems satisfied after feeds. My MD.says to just wait it out another month. My only complaint is the gassiness...hes only fussy when hes gassy, even before we didnt have any issues with stools, they were yellow, no blood. I only feed off one breast, i had been blockfeeding and now kinda just go by how my breast feel cause i feel like my supply is control. Alternating breasts. Overall, breastfeeding is comfortable. Im currently eliminating dairy from my diet. I dont know what else to do! I feel so responsible for my infants discomfort however unreasonable that is.
Re: How do you know you dont have a foremilk/hindmilk imbalance?
How old is your LO? I dealt with ovesupply w/ forceful let down with both of mine. Block nursing seemed to help mine as well.
Both my boys were very gassy for their first 2-3 mo, even after my supply issues calmed down. DS2 is almost 3 mo now (12 weeks) and is still gassy, but he can at least work it out better now & has more control over it.
Gas drops helped slightly, but for a period of time their little digestive systems are just not well developed yet. It is terrible to see them go through it, but outside of bicycling their legs, probiotcs &/or gas drops, there is not much you can do. If the color of the stools are the correct mustardy yellow, I wouldn't think it is anything you are eating that is causing it.
