Dansko clog owners...

Question for you -- I just got a pair last night.  I'm on my feet a lot at work lately and I thought they'd be good, given that I'm prone to foot problems (ex runner).  I also like that I can slip them on and off at daycare before I bring James into his room.

Here's the question - do they take a while to break in?  I have a high arch and I feel like there is a lot of pressure on the top of my foot - they are the right size, but I feel like they need to stretch out a bit across the top.  Does that make sense?  Has anybody else had the same experience?  Will it get better, or are these not the shoes for me?

Re: Dansko clog owners...

  • I live near the Dansko headquarters and outlet (yay!) and love them! They do need a little while to mold to your foot, and mine are always tight across the top to start and then stretch a bit. Once they break in they last forever too.

  • Wear a pair of thicker socks with them, maybe just around the house, maybe that will make them looser quicker? It took me a few weeks of part time wear to break mine in. Also for my flat arches to adjust to the higher arch.

  • Ugh Danskos! I so wanted to love mine.  :(( I'm a nurse and a lot of my co workers wear them go on and on about how amazing they are. I hate spending money, but spent $100 in hopes less pain after my 12-14 hour shifts. I also have a high arch, and they are great for that. Everyone says they do break in after a couple of weeks but mine never did.
The lady at the store when I bought mine said they were supposed to fit big and talked me into getting a size TOO big. I think that is why my feet never got used to them. I just always felt like I was walking on bricks.

I think yours will loosen up across the top. I've heard people talk about that specifically. But mine were so big that they weren't tight there. Good luck!

  • Thanks ladies - they were feeling a TAD better by the end of the day, so we'll try again tomorrow.. they feel good everywhere else, just not across the top of my foot.  Fingers crossed.

  • It usually takes 1-2 months to break them in for me. This was based on working in them for +12 hrs per shift at the hospital.

I also have a high arch and the top of my foot was rubbing up against the top of the shoe too. For me that discomfort never went away despite the shoe breaking in.

When I was pregnant I bought a different pair of danskos. They are a little thinner and have a small piece of elastic on the top part of the shoe. These are so much better. The most comfortable of all danskos I've ever bought and they broke in almost immediately. If the original danskos don't work for you maybe try the ones with elastic? https://www.thewalkingcompany.com/twc/store/Product.aspx?ProductID=19538
